Why Governing ??

VISUALISE SITUATIONS:

• When load increases / decreases for the turbo-generation

• When extraction flow increases / decreases

• When inlet steam conditions like pressures & temperatures change

• When exhaust conditions like pressures and temperatures change

• When the load gets reduced / thrown off for a turbo-driven pump

• When the load is to be increased / decreased on a turbo-driven compressor.

INFERENCE:

All the situations and many more not covered above would result in change ofspeed.

This change of speed could be

• Undesirable : hence needs to restored back.

• desirable : hence needs to be affected.
