Govt sets up expert committee on caste census
NEW DELHI, Aug 10:
An expert committee hasbeen set up by the Governmentto classify and categorise thecaste names mentioned in SocioEconomic and Caste Census(SECC), Rajya Sabha wasinformed today.
Minister of State for HomeHansraj Ahir said the caste-related data, as enumerated inSocio Economic and CasteCensus, has not yet been
released."The Government has decid-
ed to constitute an expert groupunder the chairmanship ofArvind Panagariya, Vice-chair-man, NITI AAYOG to classifyand categorise the caste namesreturned in SECC," he saidreplying to a written question byM. P. Veerendra Kumar.
The expert group will beserviced by the Department ofSocial Justice andEmpowerment. (PTI)
Migrants’ concern over water scarcity in JagtiExcelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Aug 10: Various KPorganizations have urged theGovernment to take immediatesteps in restoration of water sup-ply to Jagti township where thepeople were facing acute shortageof drinking water.
In a statement BJP seniorleader Virender Kuchroo said thatdisruption in water supply addedto woes of Jagti township inmatesand demanded that immediatesteps be taken to restore the watersupply in the township.
He also demanded that newwater supply scheme be taken upin hand for the township as peo-ple often face water scarcity dueto floods in river Tawi wherefrom drinking water to the town-ship has been supplied.
Expressing grave concern
over water scarcity in Jagti town-ship Pinto Ji Chanam of JagtiWelfare Committee has made anappeal to Relief authorities tolook into the matter and find outan everlasting solution to theproblem. He said the people in theJagti township have been made tosuffer due to water scarcity as theauthorities have failed to find itseverlasting solution to it.
He has also sought the inter-vention of Relief andRehabilitation Minister into thematter.
Samajwadi Party (SP)Migrant Cell president Inder JiLabroo has also demanded that anew water supply scheme for thetownship be started on the warfooting basis as the inmates ofJagti were facing acute waterscarcity since the township cameinto being.
Cabinet gives ex-postfacto approval to
changes in Lokpal ActNEW DELHI, Aug 10:
The Cabinet today gave ex-post facto approval to a pro-posal to amend the Lokpal Actto exempt CentralGovernment employees andNGOs executives from filingdetails of assets of their spous-es and children.
Parliament had on July 28passed a bill to amend theLokpal and Lokayuktas Act,2013.
A meeting of the UnionCabinet, chaired by PrimeMinister Narendra Modi, gaveits ex-post facto approval foramendments to section 44 andconsequential amendments tothe Lokpal and LokayuktasAct, 2013 by introducing theLokpal and Lokayuktas(Amendment) Bill, 2016 inParliament, a release issued bythe Government said.
"The approved amend-ments will address concernsand apprehensions expressedby different categories of pub-lic servants and addresses thedifficulties being faced inimplementing the provision ofsection 44 of the Lokpal andLokayuktas Act, 2013. Theamendments are in line withone of the recommendationsof the standing committee," itsaid.
As per old Lokpal rules,every public servant will filedeclaration, information andannual returns pertaining tohis assets and liabilities, alongwith those of spouse anddependent children, as onMarch 31 every year on orbefore July 31 of that year.
This was changed throughthe amendment bill to exemptspouse and children of publicservants.
The declarations under theLokpal law are in addition tothose filed by the employeesunder various service rules.
The last date for filing suchdeclarations has been extend-ed till December 31, 2016.(PTI)
Florence Apartment Housing Societyseeks action against Ansal Buildwell

JAMMU, Aug 10: FlorenceApartment Housing Society,Trikuta Nagar has sought help ofGovernment including Policeand Crime Branch to initiateaction against M/s AnsalBuildwell for duping 72 citizensof their hard earned money.
Addressing a press confer-ence, members of the FlorenceApartment Housing Society,Trikuta Nagar said that M/sAnsal Buildwell headed byGopal Ansal and his associatesviz Rajeev Kalia, RajeevChawla, Chetan Gupta andVishal Sahgal had signed anagreement with KulbushanGupta, land owner and business-men of Jammu to construct andsell multi-story flats forJammuites.
The terms and condition ofthe agreement were neither madeto public or not to the flat buyers,but it was informed to the buyersby the sale manager that all thepowers were vested to ABLstarting from advertisement,booking, construction and deliv-ering of possession includingregistration of the flats, theysaid, adding that the price of theflats were also fixed by ABL.
“The buyers booked the flatsafter paying the fixed priceagainst each flat—2 BHK and 3-BHK respectively. In the allot-ment letter it was mentioned thatthe cost of the flat is to bedeposited in the name of
Kulbhushan Gupta on theaccount of Florence Apartment.It was promised that flats will becompleted within specified peri-od”, they added.
After collecting 20 to 25crores of rupees from buyers, thecompany instead of completingthe project had utilized themoney in increasing their busi-ness elsewhere and project wasdelayed for 7 to 8 years leavingthe buyers in waiting till today,they said, adding that althoughthe construction of structure isnow complete but deficienciesamounting Rs 3 crores are stillpending and possession so prom-ised has not been given torespective buyers.
They urged the Governmentincluding Police and CrimeBranch to for disciplinary actionagainst the erring builder and hisassociates and put them behindthe bars for providing justice tothe buyers, who need immediateshelter.

JAMMU, Aug 10: BanyanInternational School in associa-
tion with Pearson Schoolsorganized a teacher workshopon "Life Skills and PersonalSafety of Students".
The workshop was conduct-ed by Dr Sangeeta Saksena,Founder of Enfold Trust,Bengaluru and co-author of theseries on life skills called "OnTrack" prescribed by the Schoolfor the students from grade 3 to8.
The workshop was aimed attraining teachers to use the ontrack series and life skills manu-al to bring about a positive shiftin the attitude and behavior of
the students.While speaking, Dr Saksena
elaborated on how these bookscan be effectively used to
address many issues faced byadolescents and develop lifeskills among students. Sheenlightened teachers on how theparent manual which was a partof the series can be used to guidetheir children.
Speaking on the occasion,Principal, TR Ramesh reiteratedthe importance of developinglife skills among students andthe need to address challengesfaced by adolescents.
The workshop was attendedby 95 teachers, all of whomfound it to be an informative andinteractive session.
