Glad Tidings for Trinity
Grace and peace to you all from our risen savior, Jesus Christ!
I can only imagine the confusion, wonder, and frustration felt by those people living in the time of Jesus. Trapped in their homes, unable to go outside for long stretches of time because they were scared of being recognized as followers of Jesus. Shuffling through different pieces of news, discerning what is true and what isn’t. Some information saying that Jesus did in fact rise from the dead! Others saying it was all a lie, that someone must have stolen the body to make people think he had risen.
We have found ourselves in a very similar situation, haven’t we? We are all hunkered down at home, navigating this world of unknowns and new realities. Not unlike the first Christians who celebrated that first Easter in their homes, with their closest loved ones, both celebrating the news of the resurrection and also trying to wrap their heads around this new reality. While we may have to celebrate the resurrection in our own homes this year, this isolation is only a temporary reality for us. Eventually we will be able to come together in person and on that day we will not only celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ but we will also celebrate the resurrection together as a community!
Remember, friends, this reality of quarantine and fear will be short lived. But, the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ will always be true and it is a reality we will always be living in, we may just be celebrating it a little differently this year. Pastor Stan and I will continue to work hard to bring you meaningful worship experiences online and other ways to continue to come together as a community until the day we will be able to see each other in person.
Keep checking Facebook, your emails, and phones for updates on the church and our online activities. We are so grateful for your patience and grace as we continue to navigate this time in our world. Continue looking out for each other and know that your church community is holding you in prayer!
Peace and blessings to you all! Pastor Elise

Because we all care for each other, we will not be gathering for our regular meeting on April 7th or going on a field trip to the Rock Gardens in Calhoun, Georgia. We still have plans for the months ahead. So, when once again we can meet face to face, we will be ready. Until then, OWLS has a new presence on Facebook. Join us. We are TLC OWLS. Looking forward to your posts.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
For information or if you would like to make a lunch reservation, please call David or Susan Kroft at 512-773-0383 or 512-773-0384.

“Pastor, how does the Old Testament help us understand the
Passion Story of Jesus?”
When we gather to worship we typically are using Isaiah’s prophecies to help us see some connections. Now, let me share
some information offered by “Crossways publication: See Through The Scriptures, Page 39” as some additional thoughts for consideration as we celebrate Easter.
“There are many parallels between the history of Old Testament Israel and the life of Jesus, the New Israel. Jesus is born in David’s birthplace, Bethlehem, Matt.2:1. In the Old Testament, Jerusalem is called ‘the city of David,’ 2 Samuel 5:9, 10. In the New Testament Jerusalem assumes the role of ‘the city of opposition’ to Jesus’ person and ministry.
Just as the Pharaoh tried to destroy ‘the old son of God (Exodus 1:8-22), so Herod tries to destroy ‘the new Son of God.’ Matt. 2:13-18. As Old Israel went down to Egypt and then was called out of Egypt, so the New Son of God goes down to Egypt and is called out of Egypt, (Hosea 11:1; Matt. 2: 14, 15, 20, 21).
As Old Israel (crossed) passed through the waters at the beginning of the Exodus, so Jesus passed (crossed) through the waters of the Jordan River at his baptism by John. Matt. 3: 1-17, as He begins His Ministry.
As old Israel was then tested in the wilderness for 40 years, so Jesus was tested in the wilderness for 40 days, Matt. 4: 1-11. And as God gathered Old Israel around Him at a mountain (Sinai), Exodus, chs. 19-20, so the Son of God gathers His people around Him on a mountain and gives to them His new will for life, Matt. chs. 5-7.
As God led His people through the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land, so the new Messianic King leads His pilgrim people through the wilderness of everyday life in this world on their way Home to the eternal Promised Land, John 1: 14; Matt. 28: 20; 1 Peter 1: 3-5; 2: 11.
Jesus, the New Joshua (Deuteronomy 18: 15; Mark 9: 7, ‘listen to Him’), has already passed over the Final Jordan (death) into the eternal Promised Land (heaven) to live as One with His Father. He also remains among His New Covenant people as our ever-present Lord, Matt. 28: 20, and will finally take us to where He is, to share the joys of the eternal Promised Land (John 14: 2, 3) and live in the heavenly Jerusalem, Revelation 21: 2-4.”

So sorry! I asked several people, but did not receive a response.
1. Tell a little about you and your life. I was born in Nashville and moved here when I was 14. I still miss Nashville, but can’t imagine moving back.
2. Who inspires you? I don’t have a lot of human “idols”. Music inspires me. The women of the bible inspire me. I have a strange sense of humor and like to laugh at the craziness of life. Laughter inspires me.
3. Best concert you've ever been to? Keane, hands down. Colin Malloy, also. Super great guys.
4. Favorite place in the world? Have only been to Japan. If I could go back, I would have breakfast in the Starbucks, on the corner, near the Gion District. Ueno Park was kind of great, too.
5. Favorite book (other than bible)? “Til We Have Faces”—C.S. Lewis
6. What are you passionate about? I am passionate about people. I’m an introvert who loooooves people. I love working out and any kind of HUGE project. Give me something enormous to tackle and it gets me going. (Former PTA President here.)
8. Do you perform volunteer work? Where and why? I, infrequently, volunteer at Bridge Refugee Service. (These are people who are legally coming into the country to escape being persecuted.) I set up their houses and get their basic groceries. Sometimes, I meet them at the airport and welcome them in. I, also, host paint parties for youth groups to earn money.
9. What are you currently watching on Netflix/TV? I don’t follow many programs. Instead, I watch random Britcoms, Korean Dramas, comedians, documentaries…..depends on the day.
10. Do you have a pet peeve? People who fly in front of you and try to force their way into your lane. Also…..politics; it’s fruitless arguing. Stop talking and start doing.
11. What's your secret talent? I can Feng Shui your house. It’s a completely useless talent. :)
11. What color crayon would you be & why? An iridescent crayon? I’m always changing.
12. Least favorite superhero & why? Batman. No superpowers. Just a guy running around in a suit. I could do that.
13. Are you difficult or easy to get to know? Depends on the day. I might be a bit tough. I tend to keep to myself.
