As I look out of my office window and see the receding piles of snow, I am reminded that a new season is on the horizon in spite of the
relatively cold temperatures.
As I look at the calendar I also note that the first day of spring is tomorrow. I suspect that this year we would all wish that moving
from March 19 to March 20 would mean that we would immediately have warm, balmy, sunny weather.
But alas moving from winter to spring is a slow, intentional process.
For those of us who live close to Lake Michigan, we have been warned that Spring 2014 will be cool. The Lake is just too cold and
covered with ice for the water to grow warmer in the time that it normally does.
I think about the long, cold fall and winter and how eager most in the Midwest (and likely throughout much of America) are eager for the
new season to do its thing. I also wonder if indeed our heavenly Father who provides those of us who know and experience four seasons
also provides us with unusual times such we have experienced in the last months.
I hope that I will have an even greater appreciation this year for the return of the birds and budding plants and trees and seeing green
grass and more opportunities to take walks in the neighborhood and grill brats and steaks and a multitude of other "spring" activities.
May you also be blessed with a greater appreciation for God's wonderful and beautiful creation! And may you and your family thank God
for the blessings of seasons and especially the new birth we will experience in a few short weeks.

AKERS OF HAPPINESS!! PLEASE join us to help benefit Grace members, Bob & Chris Aker. Many of you remember when
our hot lunch program was cooked in-house by Chris when their sons attended Grace (the kids LOVED her food!) Bob was diagnosed
with ALS/Lou Gehrigs Disease just over a year ago and due to the progression of this disease, it has become necessary for Chris to
quit working to be Bob's full-time caregiver. In addition to the many ongoing family and medical needs, they need a handicapped
accessible van.
