** Each Social Studies Class shall include, during Celebrate Freedom Week as provided under the TEC, 29.907, or during another full school week as determined by the board of trustees of a school district, appropriate instruction concerning the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, in their historical contexts. **Each school district shall require that, during Celebrate Freedom Week, recite the following text: “ We hold these Truths to be self evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, depriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed. 1A analyze and evaluate the text, intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and identify the full text of the first three paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence 1B analyze and evaluate the application of these founding principles to historical events in U.S. history explain the contributions of the Founding Fathers such as Benjamin Rush, John Hancock, John Jay, John Witherspoon, John Peter Muhlenberg, Charles Carroll, and Jonathan Trumbull Sr. 22A discuss Alexis de Tocqueville’s five values crucial to America’s success as a constitutional republic, egalitarianism, individualism, populism, and laissez-faire 22B describe how the American values identified by Alexis de Tocqueville are different and unique from those of other nations
