National Gallery of Victoria Terracotta Warriors Exhibition and Chinese lunch at China Town

Dear Parents, We have organised a Grade 5&6 excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria and Chinatown on 11th &12th of June as part of our Chinese culture and language study. Students will view one of the greatest national treasure of China – the Terracotta Warriors from Qin Dynasty, as well as have a delicious Chinese banquet meal in a Chinese restaurant. Students will need to be dropped off and picked up at Mooroolbark station on the day. They will also need to wear school uniform and bring a snack and drink bottle in a small reusable bag.

We ask that permission forms and payment be finalised by Friday 31st of May, to allow us time to coordinate with the restaurants regarding the number of diners and special dietary requirements.

Cost: $30 (includes: $15 NGV ticket + $25 Chinese banquet lunch – vegetarian option available).

PLEASE NOTE: The school will subside $10 per student through the Chinese Budget.

Transport: By train leaving from and returning to Mooroolbark Station.

Arrangements of the day: 8:45-9:10am Parents drop off students at Mooroolbark Train Station. (There will be teachers at the station from 8:45.)

12:00-12:45pm Terracotta Warriors Exhibition viewing.

1:15-2:30pm Chinese Lunch at Chinatown. (Due to the large size of the group, we have arranged two restaurants.)

3:08pm Dep. from Melbourne Central Arr. Mooroolbark at 3:54pm. Parents pick up at Mooroolbark Station.

I understand that in the event of serious misbehaviour my child may need to be sent home from an excursion and the costs associated with this are the parent or carer’s responsibility.

I authorise the teacher in charge of the excursion to consent, where it is impracticable to communicate with me; to the child receiving such medical or surgical treatment as may be deemed necessary. Montrose Primary School is a Child Safe organisation, which adheres to the child safe standards. All of our staff, volunteers and presenters must agree to abide by our code of conduct, which specifies the standards of conduct required when working with children. Any parent helpers selected for this incursion will need to sign the school’s Child Safety Code of Conduct policy and have a current Working with Children check.
