I gather that no Grad Committee has yet been formed so I'm volunteering to help organize the event but I can't do it by myself. I did this 2 years ago and generally the stuff that needs doing is as follows: 1. Fund raising: The year I worked on the event the cost was approximately $1800. Last year's committee left us some funds but I don't believe it's much (I will check). This means we have two choices: 1) raise the funds or 2) split the cost among ourselves. First order of business will be figure that out. 2. Confirming Event Location + any activities. The kids need to decide what they want to do. We may want to preselect some options that are manageable. 3. Invitations 4. Decorating (School Gym) 5. Slide Show (optional) – the year I did it we got each kid to bring in a baby picture and put together a powerpoint with captions + music – if this is of interest I can probably do this 6. Food at the Grad Ceremony + Asking Grade 6 parents to help out so we can watch our kids during the ceremony. 7. Food at event (Pizza / Potluck usually works) 8. Transportation (if necessary) That's a rough agenda. If enough of us pitch it, it shouldn't be too hard to pull off but I'd like to at least know there are some people willing to help (and with what). The first thing I'd like to do is collect everyone's preferred contact info. Re: Meeting for Grade 7 Graduation Committee 2010-2011

Traditionally at Southlands the Grade 7 parents organize a year end celebration for the Grade 7 classes. I gather that no Grad Committee has yet been formed so I'm volunteering to help organize the event but I can't do it by myself.

I did this 2 years ago and generally the stuff that needs doing is as follows:1. Fund raising: The year I worked on the event the cost was approximately $1800. Last year's

committee left us some funds but I don't believe it's much (I will check). This means we have two choices: 1) raise the funds or 2) split the cost among ourselves. First order of business will be figure that out.

2. Confirming Event Location + any activities. The kids need to decide what they want to do. We may want to preselect some options that are manageable.

3. Invitations4. Decorating (School Gym) 5. Slide Show (optional) – the year I did it we got each kid to bring in a baby picture and put

together a powerpoint with captions + music – if this is of interest I can probably do this6. Food at the Grad Ceremony + Asking Grade 6 parents to help out so we can watch our kids

during the ceremony.7. Food at event (Pizza / Potluck usually works)8. Transportation (if necessary)

That's a rough agenda. If enough of us pitch it, it shouldn't be too hard to pull off but I'd like to at least know there are some people willing to help (and with what).

The first thing I'd like to do is collect everyone's preferred contact info.
