ThisisaportraitofthepersonIwasbeforecomingtoCanada.WhenIwasinGrade6,Iusedtogotoworkinafactory–stitchingandsewing.Myfather,motherandgrandmothertaughtittome.Formyfamilytopayourschoolfor

ourstudies,weneededtoearnmoneyformeandmysiblingstoattendschool.Itwasatoughtime.Westruggledalotandworkedalottogetthemoneytobuyourbooksandpayforourschoolfees.Ilearnedsomany

thingsfromtheotherworkers,inthetwohoursbeforeschoolandthetwohoursafterschool,whenIworked.Iamgratefulforthisexperience.Ilovedsewingforfun,butwhenIwasdoingordersfortheclientsIgotfrustratedandcouldn’tgiveitallmyheart.IleftsewingaftercomingtoCanada–butnowduringthistimeawayfromschoolIamsewingagain.Sewingmasks.But

nowIcandoitwheneverIwant.IhavetimeforthingsIlovetodo.

startedonthere.Iwantedtomakethehairthebumpsofthecardboard.Myteachersuggestedtometoaddcolourtothebackgroundsotriedtodoadoodleflowerpattern.ThefaceisshadedbecauseIfoundthatIamgoodat

shadingandIlikeitthebest.

Nowadaystherearemanymore"skatergirls"butbeforeitbecamepopulartherewerenotasmanyfemalesparticipatinginskateboarding.So,Ifiguredwhynotportrayasituationinwhichgirlstookoveraskatepark.Thenamewastakenfromtheterm"dragonlady"whichhasadoublemeaning.Itcanbeusedtodescribeawomanwhoisoverbearingandtyrannical,butalso
