WHEAT: WORLD MARKETS AND TRADE OVERVIEW Global production for 2014/15 is projected at a new record. Production is raised for Argentina, Kazakhstan, EU, Turkey, and Ukraine. Global trade is nearly unchanged as import cuts for Bangladesh, Brazil, Turkey, and the United States are more than offset by increases for Egypt, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka. Exports are cut for Australia and the United States but raised for Brazil and the EU. The U.S. season-average farm price is lowered slightly.
BRAZILS IMPORTS OF U.S. WHEAT LIKELY TO DROP AFTER RECORD YEAR
U.S. wheat exports to Brazil are likely to drop significantly in 2014/15 compared to last year on competition from traditional South American suppliers. Brazil also has record production, and imports are forecast slightly lower than last year. Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay have recently harvested larger crops and are expected to export more to Brazil. Mercosur exporters have freight and logistical advantages in addition to tariff-free access, while others, including the United States, are subject to a 10% import duty. The situation is very different from last year, when U.S. wheat filled an unusual gap left by short crops in both Argentina and Paraguay.

U.S. PRICES:
Domestic: Export prices for all wheat classes continued their downward trajectory in January. Abundant global supplies, strengthening currency, and expectations of large crops again in 2015/16 pressured prices. Hard Red Spring (HRS) plunged $38 to $269/ton, Hard Red Winter (HRW) prices slid $28 to $246/ton, Soft Red Winter (SRW) fell $31 to $232/ton, and Soft White Winter (SWW) tumbled $22 to $239/ton. TRADE CHANGES IN 2014/15 Selected Exporters
Australia is cut 500,000 tons to 17.5 million because of slow early-season shipments.
Brazil is up 500,000 tons to 1.5 million in light of recent large shipments of lower-quality wheat.
EU is boosted 1.0 million tons to 31.0 million on the recent surge of sales to Algeria, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. The EU is now the most competitive supplier to the Middle East and North Africa.

competitiveness. Selected Importers
Bangladesh is lowered 300,000 tons to 3.3 million on a slower-than-expected shipment pace.
Brazil is trimmed 300,000 tons to 6.7 million as shipments have been below historical levels over the last several months.
Egypt is raised 500,000 tons to 10.5 million on continued large purchases despite the bread subsidy change.
United States is cut 500,000 tons to 4.2 million on slow shipments to date.

RICE: WORLD MARKETS AND TRADE
OVERVIEW Global production for 2014/15 is revised lower on a reduced crop in Thailand, where ongoing drought has cut area for the off-season crop. Global trade is also down marginally. Global consumption, although lower than last month, still outpaces production, tightening stocks. U.S. exports are unchanged. U.S. quotes for long-grain milled rice (#2/4) continue to drop, and are the lowest since April 2012. Exportable supplies remain ample, but sales and shipments outside traditional markets have been slow, weighing on prices. In comparison, prices for Thai 100B have weakened only marginally in the last month, despite the one million ton tender from government stocks. The price gap between these two has narrowed slightly in the past few weeks to below $100 per ton, FOB, improving the competitiveness of U.S. rice. SELECTED TRADE CHANGES For 2014 Selected Exporters Argentina is down 106,000 tons to 494,000 on final trade data.
India is up 300,000 tons to a record 10.8 million on preliminary December data.

U.S. Gulf Brazil Paranagua Black Sea Argentina Up River
COARSE GRAINS: WORLD MARKETS AND TRADE OVERVIEW World corn production is raised as larger crops in Ukraine, Argentina, and India more than offset lower production in Russia. Trade is boosted on stronger demand from EU, Canada, and China. The U.S. season-average farm price for corn is unchanged. PRICES Since the release of the January WASDE report, U.S. corn quotes declined only slightly to about $180/ton by early February. As new-crop prospects improve, Argentine quotes have slid and are at or below U.S. Similarly, Black Sea fell to about $10 below U.S. prices as burdensome supplies, intense competition, and a weak currency all act to pressure prices. Brazilian quotes were not available.
TRADE CHANGES IN 2014/15 Selected Exporters
Argentine corn is up sharply by 1.5 million tons to 13.5 million on greater exportable supplies and competitive prices. (Sorghum is raised 200,000 tons to 1.5 million.)

Russian corn is lowered 500,000 tons to 2.5 million on a smaller crop and intense competition from neighboring Ukraine.
South African corn is down 500,000 tons to 2.0 million despite prospects for
burdensome supplies, because of slow trade arising from strong competition.
Ukrainian corn is up sharply by 1.5 million tons to 18.0 million because of greater exportable supplies and competitive prices with a weak domestic currency.
U.S. sorghum is raised 700,000 tons to 7.5 million, the highest level in nearly 25 years,
on continued purchases by China. Selected Importers
Canadian corn is boosted 500,000 tons to 1.5 million on continued strong shipments
from the United States.
Chinese corn is up 500,000 tons to 2.5 million on improved prospects for trade, especially from non-U.S. origins.
EU corn is boosted 1.0 million tons again this month to 8.0 million on a surge of import licenses in January and on higher wheat exports.
Chinese sorghum is raised 800,000 tons to 7.0 million on continued purchases and shipments, primarily from the United States.
