Modifier

The word modifier actually comes from the word modify.

Modify means to “change something”.Ex. The easiest way to modify how you look

is to change your hairstyle or get a haircut.Ex. Every year car companies try to make

some small modifications in their car models.

A modifier is a word or group of words, or phrase, that makes the meaning of other words or groups of words more exact.

MODIFIER + WORD= A more interesting description.

Ugly + monster= ugly monsterRed + blouse= red blouseYoung + children= young children

Modifier + wordThe word is usually a noun and just gives a

general description.Add one, two, three, or more modifiers and

that word changes into something very specific.

Modifiers can be adjectives, or adverbs

Modify each noun with a word that makes the noun more exact.

Remember words used to modify nouns are called adjectives.
