PubliSher’S letter:Dear Gand Hampton residents, You may have noticed that your newsletter came a little early this time. Normally you would receive the next newsletter on November 15th. However, now Grand Hampton News will be monthly. There is a lot of information to share and the governing entities and clubhouse manager requested that we produce the newsletter monthly, instead of every other month. This change gives you the opportunity to share more of your stories, pictures, events, happens, etc., and keeps you more up to date. November is normally associated with Thanksgiving and I would like to include a little something on the subject. I try to be thankful every day (not just the month of November) for the things I already have, the abilities I have, the small things and the big things. Even when I almost locked my keys in the car but caught the door at the last second, I am very thankful. :) Here is something I found on the internet that may give you pause and remember to be thankful every day.Each of us nurture secret dreams and aspirations. The "what if", the "when everything else settles down", the "when the kids get older", the "when I have the money". And these dreams are good. They give us hope, energy, a place to escape, the power to visualize something other than our current choices. Our secret dreams sustain us and enrich our lives. For a while.

Secret dreams and aspirations have a lifespan of their own. Over time, and without warning, the lack of action, the failure to take one step in their direction, the loss of faith to make them real, secret dreams and aspirations slip into missed opportunities, or even worse, embarrassment and regret. A dream becomes regret is a heavy chain binding the spirit, always waiting at the edge of consciousness to wrap another length of chain around the heart. Nothing in your life is beyond redemption. Not even regrets. And certainly not dreams. Have you let them out lately? Written them down or told a friend or love? Giving voice to those dreams is a first step. Let them out, let them roam. The confidence to express your dreams is a step toward making them real. Scary? You bet. Worth it? Absolutely. Need a way to recapture a dream, before regret? Be thankful for it. Be thankful that you had the ability to imagine, to hope and to feel it in the first place. Reach back and find - it's still in there - the joy it brought you. Dust it off, roll it around in your mind a while, let it out, and visualize what could be, if you only take the chance.

Hi everyone!

The calendar for fall is really filling up fast! Make sure to check out all of the fun events we have planned for the residents as well as all of the Clubs and outings on our website: www.egrandhampton.com and on our Face Book page at GrandHamptonTampa. If you can’t access our new website, please email your address, phone number, names of adult members of your household, and email address you would like used and I will get you signed up. Also, if you are not yet receiving weekly emails from the Lifestyle office, please drop me an email with your first and last name and email address and I will add you to the contact list. These two items are separate so if you have access to one, you don’t automatically get the other. We have many new clubs and activity groups started such as the walking club, women’s club, networking group and craft club. Grand Hampton is also enjoying a large playgroup on Wednesday mornings for the under three residents and their parents. Keep an eye out on the property and the aerobics room for our new exercise program run by the awesome exercise instructor Shandra Valenzuela and the Lifestyle office. Make sure to cheer on your neighbors if you see them working hard by the clubhouse or better yet, come join your neighbors on the road to health and well-being. Most community and club events require an RSVP in order to have the proper amount of food and supplies on hand at events. Please be certain to email all RSVP’s with your name and number of guests. Hello residents, Fall has arrived with cooler temperatures and loosened water restrictions. The City of Tampa is allowing twice per week watering again and pressure washing of roofs, sidewalks and driveways. Pressure washing is an easy way to spruce up the appearance of your property. Tile roofs, sidewalks and driveways should be cleaned regularly. In the coming weeks, my property inspections will focus on those maintenance items, so please take an objective look at your property and take action before letters are sent.Turnover will take place on December 6, at the annual meeting. The rental area is not considered booked and will not be reserved until checks have been received and rental agreements filled out. The Pavilion/Picnic table area and pool cabana areas are not available for reservations. They are first come, first served and may not be “held” or “saved” for events except by the Lifestyle office for community

The New Tampa Relay For Life fundraising year has officially started. The Kick-Off Party was held at Hunters Green on October 9th. A limo parked at the entrance of Hunters Green Country Club from Lightning Limo gave a clue as

to the theme, which is always top secret until revealed at the Kick-Off Party. It’s official - New Tampa will transform itself into Hollywood Movies and Movie Stars. This year’s theme was revealed as: RELAYWOOD – LIGHTS,

relayforlife.org/newtampafl and do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during Relay. Teams will campout overnight, and decorate their tents with movie themes. Upcoming monthly team parties will be held at Holiday Inn Express & Suites at Galbraith Road in New Tampa. The team parties are a great opportunity to bring everyone together and share the mission of Relay, obtain fundraising ideas and resources and recognize team accomplishments. The next team party will be Tuesday November 13th at 7pm. Last year New Tampa showed

their amazing community support and exceeded their fundraising goal raising over $115,000 with 54 Teams. This year our goal is to have 60 Teams and raise $150,000. We can do it New Tampa! At press time there were 17 teams registered online. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT (CDD)

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW A CDD is a governmental unit created to serve the long-term specific needs of its community. Created pursuant to Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes, a CDD’s main powers are to plan, finance, construct, operate, and maintain community-wide infrastructure and services specifically to benefit its residents. A CDD is governed by its Board of Supervisors which is elected initially by the landowners, then begins transitioning to residents of the CDD. Like all municipal, county, state, and national elections the Office of the Supervisor of Elections oversees the vote, and CDD Supervisors are subject to state ethics and financial disclosure laws. CDD business is conducted in the “Sunshine”, which means all meetings and records are open to the public. Public hearings are held on CDD assessments, and CDD budgets are subject to annual independent audits. The cost to operate a CDD is borne by those who benefit from its services. Property owners in the CDD are subject to a non-ad valorem assessment, which appears on their annual property tax bill from the county tax collector and may consist of two parts: an annual assessment for operations and maintenance, and an annual capital assessment to repay bonds sold by the CDD to finance community infrastructure and facilities. The Grand Hampton CDD primary area of common responsibility is wetlands, water management and drainage and oversight of Conservation Areas. The CDD is professionally managed by Rizzetta & Company and inquiries should be directed to Greg Cox at (813) 933 -5571. Residents are cautioned to not feed or otherwise entice alligators; this illegal practice can encourage their dependence, create a danger to humans and pets, and threaten their survival. Conservation areas cannot be encroached upon to extend lawns or views! Please contact the CDD with any questions on protected conservation areas.

MAGNET PROGRAMS During the months of October, November, and possibly December, representatives from the magnet programs will be on campus to meet with the 8th grade students to give them the opportunity to discover their talents and explore interest while focusing on academic excellence. Bartels Middle School will be hosting a Magnet Information Night on November 03, 2012 from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Electronic Personal Educational Planner

What is the ePEP all about? The guidance department will be holding two sessions for 8th grade parents to learn all about ePEP. The ePEP tool is an electronic educational planner used to help map your student’s way though high school and even college. 8th grade students will be completing the interactive online planner that enables students to map out a sample plan of coursework for each year of high school. This is a required component of the middle school planning course.

Text and Drive” For four months, Wharton High School PTSA’s Health and Safety Committee collaborated with the Florida Department of Transportation, SADD (Students

Against Destructive Decisions) and AT&T to develop a “Don’t Text and Drive” Program … a program that would enhance Wharton’s current driver’s education curriculum and truly impact the decisions our students and families make in the New Tampa community. Fast forward to September 19th... a national day proclaiming “It Can Wait – No Texting While Driving”. Wharton PTSA partnered with AT&T specifically to hold an “It Can Wait” campaign to encourage the entire Wharton community to take the pledge to never text and drive.Amal and Marcia Forbes, PTSA Health & Safety chairs emphasized the program’s goal was to save lives … the lives of not only past, present and future students but also the lives of those who visit our Wharton campus and website.

Statistics are alarming. According to the National Safety Council, more than 100,000 automobile crashes occur and individuals are injured or die because the driver was texting and driving. AT&T’s Teen Driver Survey finds that 77% of teens have seen their friends and yes, their parents text and drive. Furthermore, 97% of teens will state that texting while driving is very dangerous, yet 43% still text and drive. The Technology Lab was the epicenter of the program’s activities which ran throughout the day. At the start of each period, Stephanie Smith, AT&T/FL Director of Public Affairs spoke from the heart as she zeroed in on the program’s purpose: No text is worth causing an accident – “It Can Wait”. Over 120 students were given the opportunity to view an AT&T 10 minute documentary depicting real individuals and families affected both emotionally and physically by the tragedies of texting while driving. The reaction to the documentary was immediate. A normally interactive and very talkative student group sat motionless

with teary eyes as silence consumed the entire classroom. Surprisingly, questions asked by Elizabeth Bolstridge, Wharton’s Technology Instructor, went unanswered despite

students that are normally very vocal in expressing themselves. Afterwards, each student was allowed to practice individually or in groups driving the AT&T online computer auto simulator. With the simulator, students experienced firsthand how accidents happen in a split second when they are distracted by texting. Each student was then given the opportunity to take the pledge online as well as sign their name to the “No Texting & Driving” poster. PTSA volunteers were also busy getting the attention of hundreds of hungry students during three lunch periods. In the Wharton Cafeteria, students could view the AT&T documentary as well as receive stickers and handouts on the dangers of distracted driving. In big bold letters, all banners read “It Can Wait” and “I Pledge Not to Text and Drive”. Principal Bradley Woods was one of the first to sign the banner. Throughout each lunch period, Wharton faculty, coaches, assistant principals, guidance counselors and administrators stopped by to sign the pledge. Over 1800 students signed the pledge with all banners now prominently displayed in Wharton’s cafeteria and media center. The day ended with reflections on how outstanding our Wharton Wildcat students are: one

community comprised of truly talented, diverse, and intelligent kids. We are extremely proud that a crucial message was delivered, knowing there is still more work to be done. The day before the 19th, PTSA volunteers decorated the school with “It Can Wait-Don’t Text and Drive/Distracted Driver” banners and permanent metallic parking lot signs. Wharton’s school marquee will continue to flash reminders that the decisions we make while behind the steering wheel can be life changing.Important Final reflection: Every 9 minutes someone in the United States is severely injured or dies from the decisions others make to be distracted while driving. service hospital scheduled to open October 1st. Part of the Adventist Health System, Florida Hospital is a leading health network comprised of 22 hospitals throughout the state. Rotary Club At Work

On Saturday morning September 15th New Tampa Evening Rotary Club members and other volunteers started to arrive at St. Mark the Evangelist Church to help with distributing food in partnership with Feeding America. Pallets of donated food included dry goods, meat and fresh vegetables. Tents were erected and boxes went through an assembly line. Each box was packed with a variety of products as it progressed to the end of the line. Rotarian Pat Rogers, a director at Feeding America, was on hand to direct the operation and give instruction to the volunteers. The Rotary Club of New Tampa Evening

not only provided volunteers, they donated $1500 to make this distribution possible. In addition to our Rotary club there were volunteers from other organizations. Shortly after the first boxes were filled cars started to line up to collect the food. As the temperature rose, the pace of the cars increased as well. Volunteers frantically continued to pack the boxes to keep up with the demand. Tricia Till handled half gallons of juice while Peter Vaka and Ram Kancharla put produce, crackers and cookies into each box. Our exchange student Katharina Lorenz kept the line moving with empty boxes to be filled. Lloyd Johnson, Sharon Gates and Eileen Johnson never stopped. Past President Sherri Ferguson helped with the setup and breakdown as well as packing boxes into families cars. Feeding America’s mission is “Ending Hunger Nourishing Hope”. Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger relief organization in

the country, consisting of a network of more than 200 food banks. They have the ability to leverage food donor relationships and effectively transport food to feed hungry Americans. Across the country one in six people struggles with hunger. Of the 50 million people who are unsure where their next meal will come from, Feeding America Tampa Bay provides food to

over 400,000 people in the West Central Florida. Feeding America Tampa Bay makes a difference in the lives of thousands of people weekly through its distribution to a partnership network of more than 600 churches and other incorporated non-profit organizations. These hunger relief agencies include The Salvation Army, Metropolitan Ministries, Beth-el Mission, Hope Children’s Home and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. The Food Bank services 10 counties throughout west central Florida. New Tampa Evening Rotary Club was thrilled to partner with Feeding America and was able to distribute to over 200 individuals and 50 families. The New Tampa Evening Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 6:15 pm at Hunters Green Country Club. Cub Scout Pack 801, which meets at Hunter’s Green Elementary School, has welcomed nearly 20 new boys to our Pack this fall. Our first Pack activity this fall is the Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta -- a race where boys use thier breath to power small wooden boats down a raingutter filled with water to see which one will make it to the finish line first.

We’re also gearing up for our first camping trip of the school year. In November, we’ll camp at an aeronautical youth education event called Wings-n-Things in Lakeland. Boys and their siblings, ages 8 and up, who have never flown in a

small plane before, are able to take a “First Flight” with a volunteer pilot, and everyone participates in a wide variety of educational activities centering around an aeronautical theme.

On november 4th, the tampa Fisher House Golf Classic will take place at Heritage Isles Golf Course in new tampa.

Our objective is to raise money and awareness to support the Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ temporary lodging facility for families of wounded military members and veterans being treated at the James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital. The Tampa Fisher House, which opened in 2007, is a 16,000 sq foot, 21-bedroom home located

adjacent to the hospital where these service members returning from combat areas like Iraq and Afghanistan undergo long, often difficult recuperation and rehabilitation. All money raised

during the golf tournament will go directly to the Fisher House which depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance its operations and programs. Learn more about Fisher House at www.fisherhouse.org. We invite Hunter's Green residents to participate in this wonderful event as a tournament sponsor and/or player. If you don’t play golf, but would like to sponsor a recovering soldier or sponsor a tee “In Honor of” or “In Memory of” a loved one please let us know. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
