Depression, then why is it remembered as a significant government program?

• It gave people hope that the government was trying to help. It provided jobs and welfare for those needing it the most. It did great public work like parks, highways, electricity to rural areas. We still benefit today from some of the projects. We still have Social Security and banking insurance today.

The 1920’s were a time of new riches and technology for some people.

Various events led to the Great Depression and the crash of the Stock Market.

The G.D. affected various groups of people.

FDR’s New Deal gave hope to people suffering during the G.D. even if it didn’t fix the economy.
