To have great schools, we need to hire, grow and keep great teachers. The proposed millage on the May 4 ballot allows us to raise the average teacher’s base pay by $3,625 and provide a living wage for support staff.

Additionally, teachers who fill positions for target content and/or at target schools will be eligible for extra stipends. All teachers will be eligible for a Highly Effective stipend.*

Jefferson Parish is the largest school district in Louisiana, but RANKS 8 OUT OF 9 in surrounding school

districts in teacher pay.

Jefferson Parish loses 30% of veteran teachers and 40% of new teachers

every year. Pay is a big reason why we lose these teachers.
