In a statement here an Army spokesman said, “The afforestation drive commenced on June 21, 2016 with more than 200 students planting approx 2000 saplings in Chandan- wari and Nehru Park, Srinagar and it culminated today, under the steward- ship of Forest Minister Chaudary Lal Singh in the presence of senior Army officials and prominent civil dignitar- ies in AGPS, Pahalgam.” He said, “The event witnessed the participation of over 5000 people who overwhelmingly participated in the afforestation drive. The weeklong event captured the imagination of school children through Clean Kashmir, Green Kashmir, a painting competition accentuating the greenery and cleanli- ness in the region.
