GREEN CORRIDOR CONFERENCEThe concept of the “Green Corridor” is a relatively recent approach to possible development of road and rail infrastructures and more generally a response to the economic, environmental and social needs of the area. Underlying this instrument there is research and a commitment to dissemination of an area model based on low emissions and the putting into effect of measures to integrate different requirements according to assessment parameters still partly unexplored. The most significant issues in terms of the green corridor regard questions relating to new sources of energy and incentivising these, the reduction of emissions and lower pollution and influences of and on the climate, in addition to the different forms and requirements of transport. In this context, alongside the development of new technology for the decarbonisation of transport and to ensure the availability of an efficient logistics system, new cultural and social foundations need to be identified. Rather than starting from a perspective of consuming the area and time, this will perhaps be possible by starting from consideration of the need for different contexts to come together intentionally and consequently to adopt new styles and quality of life. The whole alpine community is involved in this transformation, due to its characteristics and the fragility of settlements.
ARGE ALPARGE ALP – the Working Community of the Alpine Regions – was founded in 1972 by regions in the alpine space, with the scope of resolving shared problems, with a relationship based on good neighbourliness and mutual collaboration. Cross-frontier action takes place above all in the ecological, cultural, social and economic fields and is intended to promote reciprocal comprehension between peoples in the alpine area and reinforce the sense of shared responsibility as regards their vital living space, within a context of sustainable development. The actions aim to reinforce the position of the countries, regions, provinces and cantons and to support integration in the European context, together with other institutions.
BRENNER CORRIDOR PLATFORMThe Brenner Corridor Platform (BCP) was established in May 2007 following an initiative of the former Commissioner of the TEN T network Line 1 Berlin-Palermo Corridor, the most important European Community programme regarding transport. The objective of the platform is to draw up models for the optimisation of goods transport between Munich and Verona, in particular by guaranteeing compatible systems and developing ecologically sustainable technology, also through working groups made up of experts from various States and Regions.
