Sports and sportspersons should also have a demonstrated
commitment to improving the environmental health of the
nation. Hence, we at KSCA are part of this Green Wicket
Campaign to make our cities a better place to live. Join us in
this initiative!
– Mr. Brijesh Patel, Honorary Secretary
Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA)
Cricket in India is not only a sport, it’s a philosophy, almost
a religion. It is a passion for millions of people and cricket
has the power to change. Jointly with KSCA, we would
like to realize our vision of a better tomorrow by making
Chinnaswamy Stadium the first resource efficient stadium in
India and to promote sustainability at schools. Green Wicket can be an agent
of change, an ambassador for fair play with our natural resources. Jai Ho
Green Wicket!
– Dr. Dieter Mutz, Director, Indo-German
Environment Partnership (IGEP) Programme, GIZ

The football stadium in Freiburg, Germany
is one of the greenest replete with a solar
power system and other resource efficiency
measures. Freiburg calls itself the Eco-City.
This inspired the Chinnaswamy Cricket
Stadium to become a green stadium, with
Bangalore at the vanguard of becoming a
green and solar city.
The Karnataka State Cricket
Association (KSCA) joined
hands with the Deutsche
Gesellschaft für Internationale
Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to
spread the message of
resource efficiency through
sports – through the Green
Wicket Campaign!
Sport is an ambassador – all around the world. Cricket is to India what football is to Germany.
