Green Project Title: Energy saving, a necessity for our school and the society

Green Project timelines: 10/2014 – 11/2014

Project Summary The project seeked to change the old inefficient and energy consuming light bulbs with new more efficient and energy saving ones in order to improve the quality of the every-day learning and teaching process in the school, save more energy and decrease the energy spendings as well as increase students, teachers, parents and community’s awareness regarding the environment and how to do better use of resources. In addition the students engaged in the greening of the school surroundings. The project saw a large interest and engagement in the process and contributed to improve the environmental performance of the school making it more sustainable.

Problem addressed and why?

The problem it tried to address was the poor quality and expensive lighting system as well as lack of knowledge about energy use and energy efficiency. Addressing it will benefit not only to the school by improving lightning quality but will benefit also to parents and the community as they will be more aware about the ways they can use their energy in a more efficient way. Moreover having more a better informed, more aware youth and community will help the society become more sustainable.
