Hoosier physicians and others interested in current approaches in the pathophysiology and treatment of hypeFtension are being invited to attend the symposium which will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 March 27 in the auditorium of the School of Nursing. Featured speakers will be Dr. John C. McGiff, chairman of pharmacology, New York Medical College; Dr. Tadashi Inagami, director of the Specialized Center of Research in Hypertension at Vanderbilt University; Dr. Myron H. Weinberger, director of the Specialized Center of Research in Hypertension at the I.U. School of Medicine, and Dr. Norman M. Kaplan, professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center. The Forum also will feature more than 50 research papers in a dozen fields presented by medical and graduate students from more than 20 medical schools throughout the Midwest. Student research papers will be presented the morning of March 27 and all day March 28. "The Excitement of Clinical Investigation" will be the subject of an address by Dean Steven C. Beering at a banquet for the ?articipants March 27. Co-directors of the 1980 Forum are Gregory Sides and Mervin Yoder, both medical school seniors. Other members of the local committee are Paul Houston, David Fowler, David Mandelbaum and Eileen Olinger. WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE & SOMETIMES WHY

Exhibitors -- The freshman, sophomores and juniors at the Herron School of Art have their best efforts on display through April 11. More than 240 works make up this "Herron Student Exhibition '80" in the Gallery. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday (till 9 p.m. on Wednesdays).

Downtown -- Nearly 40 works by Sir Francis Seymour Haden, one of Britain's greatest landscape etchers, are on exhibition at the Downtown Gallery of the Indianapolis Museum of Art through May 8. The gallery is on the second floor of the AFNB building on Monument Circle.

Bookworms -- The School of Nursing Staff Council will set up their used-book sale Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the main entrance area of the school.· The books, all in good condition, will be sold at 75 percent off the original sale price.

Day for the Irish -- The St. Patrick's Day schedule for Michael and Grainne Yeats (he is the son of William Butler Yeats and a noted Irish barrister; she is an accomplished musician and singer) opens with an 11:30 a.m. luncheon in the Roof Lounge of the Union Building, sponsored by the Office of International Programs and Services. Then Yeats will head for Richard A. Fredland's 1 p.m. political science class in Cavanaugh Hall. At 3 p.m. Grainne Yeats will give a program of "Irish Songs and Ballads" in Lecture Hall 104. And at 8 p.m. (also in Lecture Hall 104) Yeats will share personal viewpoints of his remarkable family. All are cordially invited.

Genetic I -- "A Family with Multiple Chromosomal Translocations," Medical Genetics Seminar by Dr. Elinor M. Zorn, postdoctoral fellow; Riley Research, Conference Room 138, noon on Monday.

Biochemical -- "High Affinity Choline Uptake as a Regulatory Step in Acetyl Choline Synthesis," Biochemistry Seminar by Dr. Jay Simon, assistant professor; Medical Science Building, Room 205, 2 p.m. Monday.

Blood Drive -- Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. both days. The Bloodmobile will be parked by the Lecture Hall.

Seminar -- "Acoustic Microscopy Projects," Ultrasound Research Laboratories Seminar by Steve Vinson and W.D. McNeely of ICFAR; University Hospital, Room C424, 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Genetic II -- "Errors during the Process of Human Fertilization," Medical Genetics Seminar by Elisabeth Keitges, graduate student; Riley Research, Conference Room 138, Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Displays -- Pharmacy displays this week in University Hospital will be Breon Laboratories on Wednesday and Hoechst-Roussel Co. on Friday. Roche Laboratories will have a display in Riley on Wednesday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Politics of Energy -- Stephen M. Sachs, associate professor of political science, will discuss "Energy Politics and Policy: The Crucial Hidden Agenda" during a roundtable discussion Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Cavanaugh Hall, Room 144. This is the fifth program in a series sponsored by the Student Political Science Association. Guests are welcome at the informal session.

Deadline -- Friday (March 21) is the deadline for April listings in the University Calendar. This includes any event, lecture or cultural offering that is open to the IUPUI community. Norman Conquest -- Norman Mailer will be the speaker for the third annual Marian McFadden Memorial Lecture, sponsored by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation, at 8 p.m. April 10 at North Central High School. Admission is free.

Lectureship -- The Department of Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management in the School of Engineering and Technology has announced the establishment of a Conrad Nicholson Hilton Distinguished Lectureship. This will enable the department to bring on its staff a hotel or motel industry manager to teach and help counsel students. The lectureship is suppored with a $1,000 grant from the foundation.

Move -- Warehouse 3 has moved from 957 West New York Street to 1410 Stadium Drive. The new telephone number is Ext. 7233 for Warehouse 3 only. Please mail your requisition for janitor supplies and electrical and hardware items to Harry Hennigen at the Stadium Drive address.

Workshop -- "Facilitating the Discharge Planning Process" will be the topic of a continuing education program March 27-28 at the School of Nursing. Imogene Eide, a registered nurse who is administrator of the Community Home Health Care Agency of the Maricopa County Health Service at Phoenix, will lead the workshop. Other speakers include Charlotte A. Carlley, coordinator of continuing education at the I.U. nursing school, and Jane Engdahl, continuity of care coordinator, and Jean Foster, from Nursing Services for Children -- both at Riley Hospital.
