PCB assembly services

GreensTone Electronics is capable of two types of printed circuit board assembly services. They are full and partial turn-key services.

Full Turn-Key covers all aspects of PCB fabrication and assembly, including manufacture of PCBs, parts procurement, tracking of online orders, quality inspections, and final PCB assembly.

In Partial Turn-Key, the customer is responsible for supplying the PCBs and a partial list of parts. GreensTone will order

the remaining parts and perform the assembly according to the customer’s requirements. We can also kit the parts.

GreensTone Electronics is electronic contract manufacturer (ECM) that specializes in small-medium volume, turnkey PCB assembly services. The turnkey service utilizes a Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) and a Design-for-Testing (DFT) service. The benefits of GreensTone’s turn-key PCB assembly service can be utilized for clients who require a convenient, quick turnaround for the prototyping of printed circuit board designs. GreensTone is a global specialist in cost-effective prototype PCB assembly services. We have an in-house staff of seasoned experts who can take a client’s PCB designs from the parts sourcing, prototyping and assembly stages through a prototyped final product that can be shipped in typically two weeks if all the supporting documents are correct and there are no supply chain obstacles.

Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) Service To circumvent any engineering problems that may impede the manufacturing process, as well as potential delivery delays, GreensTone uses a Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) service that functions as a quality check by reviewing a client’s engineering documents such as Gerber files, BOMs, assembly drawings, and circuit diagrams. In addition, it will panelize the PCBs, inspect your parts list to verify its correctness before the parts are ordered, and suggest a solder mask to obtain high yield rates. The DFM service is one of the prime ways GreensTone Electronics can pass on cost reductions to its customers. Design-for-Testing (DFT) Service To support your PCB testing procedure while providing recommendation on how to place test points throughout your PCB, GreensTone uses a Design-for-Testing (DFT) service. This product support service provides references on probe types, fixtures, and testing limitations. The DFT service will verify that your testing requirements, problem identification procedures, diagnostic instructions, and other references are functional. Pre-Production Test Boards To avoid the risks and added expenses associated

with manufacturing rework, GreensTone will build a small amount of PCBs and send them to you for inspection prior to manufacturing the entire order. Once the order has been certified for full production, GreensTone will test all manufactured PCBS, check the Ball Grid Array and the quality of the leadless part assembly via X-ray inspection equipment. Design Care

1 If possible, use SMD component instead of DIP component.

2 Keep all DIP components on same side (Top/Bottom).

3 The distance between 2 solder pads of 0402 components should be 0.26-0.45mm.

4 No silkscreen on VIA holes.

5 Mark the pole for polarity components.

6 Minimum trace/vias/pads spacing.

7 The distance between any two chip components should be at least 1mm; the distance between chip component and connector should be at least 5mm.

8 Keep clear around big IC (48pins or more) and BGA. 3.8mm is recommended.

9 The solder pad size (length/width) on PCB should be larger than pin size of component.

10 Temperature sensitive components (e.g. LED, battery) may be damaged in manual soldering process.

11 The distance between soldering points and neighbor SMD components should be at least 1mm.

At the customer’s request, GreensTone always sources components from suppliers recommended by the client. We do not replace components or use a

supplier that is not approved by the customer.

Hard To Find Parts Sourcing GreensTone has the capability of sourcing hard-to-find, obsolete or unusually long leadtime components as a result of building over the years an extensive network of global sources for ICs produced in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and other regions across Asia. When a re-placement or cross-reference part is necessary, we solicit your approval first.

Lead Times and Costs Most parts orders can be filled in approximately 5 to 7 working days from the initial order date. We utilize barcode and RFID labeling to expedite our procurement and inventory control processes. Using this type of automation technology permits us to know in real time a true inventory count in our local warehouses. In addition, we conduct quality testing prior to any components being stocked in our warehouse bins. In some cases, integrated circuit modules will be given electrical characteristic testing. We have built a solid procurement and warehousing system that is so efficient we are able to pass onto our customers at no handling cost. Our testing

GreensTone Electronics uses a variety of testing methodologies to ensure the assembled boards are functional prior to shipping.

They are:

• Basic Quality Test: visual inspection. •

AOI Checks: tests for solder paste, 0402 components,

missing components and polarity. •

ICT (In-Circuit Test) / Functional test: according to the

customer’s testing procedures.

ESD prevention

Handle ESDS devices at static-safe workstations. Every wokers wear grounded antistatic wrist-strap and antistatic smock. Education and training on ESD preventive measures . The regular audit is also in supporting the ESD program. ESDS PCBs are contained in a static protective bag or container at all times during storage and transportation.
