There has been an increase in traffic in our
neighborhoods due to a variety of
reasons : new construction, roof repairs,
garage sale(s), Parade of Homes, and a variety
of other reasons. Pay attention and be
suspicious of anything that does not “look
right.”
Please know we are taking steps to do what
we can. We are increasing the extra patrols
we pay for and have been in contact
with Mayor Harpole and other groups,
including the Amarillo Police Department, in an
effort to combat the increased crime. The
police and extra patrols cannot be everywhere
at all times. All of us must also do our part.
Remember, TAKE CARE and BE AWARE!

Greenways Safety Tips
1. Keep garages CLOSED.
2. Take all valuables out of autos parked outside.
Remove the temptation for thieves.
3. Remove remote controls from vehicles every night
and consider un-programming all built in remotes,
such as Homelink.
4. Call the police (911) on ALL suspicious activities.
5. Be your own “Neighborhood Watch” and Keep an
Eye on Your Block.
6. KNOW your neighbors.
7. If you have a house alarm—USE IT!

Developer’s Corner
The Greenways Development Office hopes to have our new Unit 28 area completed by the end of
October. Unit 28 consists of new 97 lots, of which about 65 are under contract of sale. The rains
this year have slowed us down some, but we are so thankful for the moisture! We are busy
designing the area south of the intersection of Greenways Drive and Bayswater and plan on
beginning constructing on the lots in 2015.
2014 Greenways Neighborhood Picnic
The Annual Greenways Picnic is just around the corner! We will have an “old fashioned”
neighborhood picnic with all the trimmings! Join us on Saturday, September 27th at 5:00
pm for hamburgers, hotdogs and the trimmings! We will have live music, face painting and
bouncers for the kids! Please bring a dessert to share! Help us get the word out! Share
this information with your neighborhood friends and make plans now to attend!

2014 Tree Inspections Have Been Completed
Recently, the Greenways HOA completed the annual tree
inspection to determine existing trees that are not in
compliance with the Greenways Declaration of Covenants,
Conditions and Restrictions.
If you have a tree that is NOT in compliance you should have
received a letter in the mail with resident responsibility and
further information.
It is important to remember that proper tree care starts when
you select a tree and that maintenance of your tree in its first
few years of life will affect its shape, strength, and even its life
span. Following the tips and techniques to the right will make
sure your tree gets a good start and keep it healthy throughout
its life.
You may view a complete copy of the covenants and
restrictions that govern your residence on the Greenways HOA
website and clicking on the “Covenant and Restrictions” tab on
the left hand side of the page. The specific covenants for your
property will be listed by street name and address.

TREE CARE TIPS & TECHNIQUES
Mulch is valuable to your trees
health and care.
Watering is a key part of tree
care. Keeping soil most, but not
soggy is a good rule of thumb for
all types and ages of trees.
Pruning during dormancy (winter
is the most common practice as it
results in a vigorous burst of new
growth in the spring . It is usually
best to wait until the coldest part
of winter has passed.
Fertilization during fall and spring
on a regular basis leads to
healthy and vigorously growing
trees.
Planting or replanting is best in
the fall months, right before
dormancy.
