Gresford Public School Newsletter Term 3 ~ Week 10
24th September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,
As the end of term is approaching, I would like to wish all the community a happy holiday and
hope that you and your children have a chance to rest and recharge. The first day back for both
students and staff in Monday 12 October. There are no ‘pupil free days’ at the start of next term.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone back in Term 4.
Congratulations to Pearl Ropata who will be representing
Gresford Public School in the Multicultural Perspectives Public
Speaking Competition in the finals. Pearl will be one of the 40
finalists who will deliver her prepared 3-minute speech and an
impromptu speech next term. We wish her the best competing
against students across NSW.
Over the weekend the school had some malicious damage made
to walls in the school grounds by people who were not
supposed to be on the grounds. Over the holiday period if you are near the school please be on
the lookout for people in our school grounds and report the incident to the police or the School
Safety Unit on 1300 880 021
Next term when the students return to school it will be a lot warmer and students will require a
water bottle for drinking. The bubblers are still out of action. Each student must have their own
water bottle. Over the last couple of days there have been a few students with dehydration due to
not drinking water and running around in the heat.
2020 has been a year of many changes and unknowns. This has impacted the wellbeing for many
people, including some of our students here at Gresford Public School. Talking about mental
health can sometimes feel tricky to navigate Kids Helpline has put together a guide and also other
resources to help start the conversation. With the holidays coming up and some extra family time
available this could be an excellent opportunity to do a wellbeing check-in with your child/ren. If
you have any concerns or would like to discuss your child's wellbeing please contact your
classroom teacher for further support.

BOOK WEEK 2020
Curious Creatures - Wild Minds This year Book Week has been moved to Week 2 of Term 4.
The theme for this year is “Curious Creatures - Wild Minds”.
We will be having a Book Fair and dress up on Friday 23rd October. More information
about how the Book Fair will operate will be sent home at the beginning of next term.
Children will be invited to dress up on Friday 23rd October as a favourite book character
or as a curious creature. Please remember that children must have covered footwear and no
singlet tops or inappropriate clothing.
A commission from the sale of books from the fair is returned to the school to buy books
for the library.
We look forward to your support in Book Week 2020.
