Thursday saw the launch of the Passport to Success with students receiving their personalised timeta-bles. Students should follow this timetable for the duration of the examination period. You can also find an overview of the Passport timetable on the School Website. This is a general timetable that shows the extra provision we are offering in the exam period. The provision will consist of extra revi-sion sessions put on especially before all major exams. There will also be breakfast sessions provided before all morning exams which will run from 8.00am - 8.30am. For the initial two weeks your child will be expected in school attending normal lessons or specific revision sessions. As the exam period progresses the amount of time spent in school will reduce. This will be clearly shown in your child's personalised timetable. The Passport to Success will begin on the 14th May and run for the 5 weeks of the exam period. If you have any questions then please contact me on [email protected] I am aware that this can be a very stressful time for students and parents alike. Please contact me if you feel we can help in any way, such as helping to deal with stress or ways on how to revise for exams. We have specialist staff who can deal with exam issues or having someone just to talk to can also be a help. The Head Prefects will be contacting you shortly about arrangements for the Prom on the 28th June. I hope you have all got your ball gowns and suits ready!!

Next week will see the unveiling of the new Grey Court Prefects. This year the current prefects will hand over to the new ones in a special assembly on Tuesday. We are always looking to raise the pro-file of the prefects and so this year we will be introducing a new garment to make the prefects readily identifiable - but this will remain a secret for the time being!!! The Year 10 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 31st May from 4.30 - 7.00pm. Your child will shortly receive a appointment sheet and they will be required to obtain appointments from all of their teachers. This is a very important Parents Evening as it will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress in their GCSEs. It is imperative that any problems or issues are sorted out before the students enter Year 11 and this evening is a fantastic opportunity to set out clear targets. i look forward to seeing you all there.

Making the base

1 Sit 2 x 9cm metal rings on 2 small serving plates.

Crush the biscuits in a bag with a rolling pin and add

butter and melt, then divide between the rings,

pressing down to form the base.

10min

2. Put the soft cheese in a bowl, then whisk

together with the double cream, sugar and 2

tbsp honey until soft peaks form. Spoon the

mixture into the rings, then spread the top

flat. You can chill the cheesecakes now until

ready to serve.

5min

3.Crush a third of the raspberries

with 1 tsp honey, then gently fold in

the rest. Use a knife to run around

the inside of the ring, and lift off.

Spoon over the raspberries and

serve.

Prepare the curry paste

1.Place all the "green curry paste" ingredients together

in a food processor, and process to a paste. If

necessary, add a few Tbsp. of the coconut milk to help

blend ingredients. Set aside.

10min

1.Prepare the lime leaves by tearing the leaf away

from either side of the stem. Discard the central

stem. Then, using scissors, cut leaves into thin

strips. Set aside.

3min

Production Plan for

Thai green curry .30 min

Ingredients List

GREEN CURRY PASTE:

• 1purple onion, diced

• 4 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 thumb-size piece ginger, grated

• 1/2 tsp. ground coriander

• 1/2 tsp. ground cumin

• 1 (loose) cup fresh coriander

• 3 Tbsp. fish sauce

• 1 tsp. brown sugar • 2 Tbsp. lime juice

CURRY INGREDIENTS:

• 2 chicken breast, cut into chunks

• 1 can coconut milk

• grated lime zest

• 1 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into chunks

• Generous handful fresh basil

• 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

• mushrooms

Page 29: Grey Court School eGrey Court School e- -- …fluencycontent-schoolwebsite.netdna-ssl.com/FileCluster/...Research has shown that for every year of school, life expectancy in adulthood

Making the Curry

2.Warm a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the oil and

swirl around, then add the green curry paste.

2min

3.Stir-fry briefly to release the fragrance (30 seconds to 1 minute), then

add 3/4 of the coconut milk, reserving 2-3 Tbsp. per serving portion for

later.

3min

4.Add the chicken, stirring to incorporate. When the curry sauce comes to

a boil, reduce heat to medium so it simmers.

n/a

5.Cover and allow to simmer 3-5 more minutes, or until chicken is cooked

through. Stir occasionally.

5min

6.Add the red bell pepper and zucchini, plus the strips of lime leaf (or lime

zest), stirring well to incorporate. Simmer another 2-3 minutes, or until

vegetables are softened but still firm and colorful.

4min

7. Do a taste-test for salt, adding 1-2 Tbsp. fish sauce if not salty enough.

If you'd prefer a sweeter curry, add a little more sugar. If too salty, add

a squeeze of lime or lemon juice. If too spicy, add more coconut milk. Note

that this curry should be a balance of salty, spicy, sweet and sour, plus

bitter.
