Dear Parents/Carer Grey Court Grey Court Grey Court Grey Court ––––the next 5 yearsthe next 5 yearsthe next 5 yearsthe next 5 years
I spent last weekend with my senior leadership team. We analysed where we are now as a school and our plans for the next 5 years. It was reaffirming but also challenging as we worked hard to thrash out the critical success factors that will enable us to provide an outstanding experience for our students and staff. The next stage in our consultation plans are to ask all members of our community their views on the future of the school. I would like to thank them for giving up their time. Their dedication and commitment to our young people is incredible.
Year 11Year 11Year 11Year 11 The passport to success starts on Monday and all students have been provided with all the dates and times for exam and revision sessions. We will continue to monitor their progress carefully and provide all the support they require until the end of the exam season. Our Record of Achieve-ment ceremony is on Friday June 2nd 2012. There will be no study leave.

Learning & Teaching Update Learning & Teaching Update Learning & Teaching Update Learning & Teaching Update ---- The Importance of being at SchoolThe Importance of being at SchoolThe Importance of being at SchoolThe Importance of being at School Research has shown that for every year of school, life expectancy in adulthood increases by 1.7 years!
With the exam season about to get into full swing, attendance and punctuality to school are a MUST, not just for Year 10 & 11 but for every student. Your teachers are your best resource and Year 11 are about to embark on their Passport to Success—a bespoke package of structured revision classes, fitted around their GCSE Exams in order to prepare them even fur-ther for the real thing.
When students are absent from school, they miss opportunities with skilled and highly passionate experts in their subject and there is often a lag whilst students catch up on any work missed. This can be extremely worrying and frustrating for the student creating even more anxiety that can hinder progress.
Our school target for attendance is 96% and National Research shows that when students fall below 94%, this has a detrimental affect on attainment.

Thursday saw the launch of the Passport to Success with students receiving their personalised timeta-bles. Students should follow this timetable for the duration of the examination period. You can also find an overview of the Passport timetable on the School Website. This is a general timetable that shows the extra provision we are offering in the exam period. The provision will consist of extra revi-sion sessions put on especially before all major exams. There will also be breakfast sessions provided before all morning exams which will run from 8.00am - 8.30am. For the initial two weeks your child will be expected in school attending normal lessons or specific revision sessions. As the exam period progresses the amount of time spent in school will reduce. This will be clearly shown in your child's personalised timetable. The Passport to Success will begin on the 14th May and run for the 5 weeks of the exam period. If you have any questions then please contact me on [email protected] I am aware that this can be a very stressful time for students and parents alike. Please contact me if you feel we can help in any way, such as helping to deal with stress or ways on how to revise for exams. We have specialist staff who can deal with exam issues or having someone just to talk to can also be a help. The Head Prefects will be contacting you shortly about arrangements for the Prom on the 28th June. I hope you have all got your ball gowns and suits ready!!

Next week will see the unveiling of the new Grey Court Prefects. This year the current prefects will hand over to the new ones in a special assembly on Tuesday. We are always looking to raise the pro-file of the prefects and so this year we will be introducing a new garment to make the prefects readily identifiable - but this will remain a secret for the time being!!! The Year 10 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 31st May from 4.30 - 7.00pm. Your child will shortly receive a appointment sheet and they will be required to obtain appointments from all of their teachers. This is a very important Parents Evening as it will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress in their GCSEs. It is imperative that any problems or issues are sorted out before the students enter Year 11 and this evening is a fantastic opportunity to set out clear targets. i look forward to seeing you all there.

Dear Parent/Guardian, To recognise the sporting achievements of Grey Court students over the past year we have organised a Sports Celebration Dinner and Presentation Evening in the Live Room at Twickenham Stadium, 200 Whitton Rd, Middlesex, TW2 7BA. This year, the school teams have achieved even more, becoming Borough and Regional Champions in many sports. Your son/daughter has been invited to the event as he/she has made a significant contribution to school sport at the school over the past year. Thai green curry .30 min
Ingredients List
GREEN CURRY PASTE:
• 1purple onion, diced
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 thumb-size piece ginger, grated
• 1/2 tsp. ground coriander
• 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
• 1 (loose) cup fresh coriander
• 3 Tbsp. fish sauce
• 1 tsp. brown sugar • 2 Tbsp. lime juice
CURRY INGREDIENTS:
• 2 chicken breast, cut into chunks
• 1 can coconut milk
• grated lime zest
• 1 red bell pepper, seeded and cut into chunks
• Generous handful fresh basil
• 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
• mushrooms
Making the Curry
2.Warm a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the oil and
swirl around, then add the green curry paste.
2min
3.Stir-fry briefly to release the fragrance (30 seconds to 1 minute), then
add 3/4 of the coconut milk, reserving 2-3 Tbsp. per serving portion for
later.
3min
4.Add the chicken, stirring to incorporate. When the curry sauce comes to
a boil, reduce heat to medium so it simmers.
n/a
5.Cover and allow to simmer 3-5 more minutes, or until chicken is cooked
through. Stir occasionally.
5min
6.Add the red bell pepper and zucchini, plus the strips of lime leaf (or lime
zest), stirring well to incorporate. Simmer another 2-3 minutes, or until
vegetables are softened but still firm and colorful.
4min
7. Do a taste-test for salt, adding 1-2 Tbsp. fish sauce if not salty enough.
If you'd prefer a sweeter curry, add a little more sugar. If too salty, add
a squeeze of lime or lemon juice. If too spicy, add more coconut milk. Note
that this curry should be a balance of salty, spicy, sweet and sour, plus
bitter.
