Dear Parent/Carer
The GCSE Results were fantastic! 78% of students achieved 5 or more A*-Cs includ-ing English and Maths. Over half of our students achieved 10 or more A*-C passes including English and Maths. These are brilliant results which round off yet another successful year for Grey Court.
New Year 7 students The new students have settled in really well and are finding their way around the school. They all look very smart in their new uniforms. We will continue to do everything we can to settle them down quickly.

Learning and Teaching update
Great to be back at Grey Court for another fantastic year ahead! To be successful, our students must be ready for learning before they leave home, with the correct equipment:: pencil case, planners, books and im-peccable uniforms. We advise all students to have their own green pens. Our learning and teaching policy enables each student to have some bespoke ―Next Steps‖ for improvement when teachers mark their work. Students must respond to their next steps in green pens. Let’s get ready for learning and stay on top of regular revision and home-work to be successful learners right from the start!
The 2015 Rugby World Cup is happening right here, on our doorstep. To help celebrate this event – and to kick-start the school year in style – Grey Court is hosting its very own World Cup Family Fun Day on Saturday 19th September. It’s not all about rugby. There will be giant inflatables for younger guests, live jazz music, a BBQ serving both meat and vegetarian food, and a drink & snack bar. So, for parents, students, siblings, & staff, why not take the opportunity to come along, bring the family and enjoy the atmosphere. Do not worry if you live and breathe rugby – we have a giant screen showing both Ireland vs Canada at 2.30pm and South Africa vs Japan at 4.45pm. Skills coaching for Grey Court players We also have an amazing opportunity for some of our talented rugby players across the school to experience a top quality training session run by experienced coaches from London Welsh, London Scottish & Harlequins rugby clubs. Anyone in year 7 (boy or girl) who wishes to take part in this coaching session is welcome to
attend. They will have their own specialist coach. Siblings in years 5&6 who are considering joining the school and who are interested in
rugby can also attend, subject to pre-agreement. If younger brothers/sisters want to join in, please contact Ms Thomas (email below) and let her know before 16th September.
Players in Years 8-11: Mr Willmore will be sending invites out over the next few days to identified players within these year groups who would benefit most from this session.
For those available to take up this opportunity, it promises to be a great chance to sharpen your skills at the start of the season. So, mums & dads, this might be one to stay and watch (with drink and hot dog in hand, of course!) If anyone can lend a hand on the day, please let me know. Otherwise, come along, join in and let’s start 2015-16 with some celebratory good cheer.

Year 7 Mr. King (Head of Yr 7)
Grey Court School
Year 8 and Year 9 Mr. C. Dyer (Head of Yr 8/9)
Year 8 Welcome to you all. I know that we will have a very successful 2 years ahead of us. I look forward to getting to know you all and working really hard towards being part of the Grey Court Community. Gradu8 is a really exciting programme that you will be carrying out this year, and you will hear more about this in the up and coming weeks.
Year 7 have made a great start to their Grey Court life. The first day involved being finger printed, getting to know their tutors and class-mates, and doing a treasure hunt around the school! On Thursday they had team building activities with Fit for Sport and they also com-pleted 'Mission Possible', a transition activity about the challenges of starting secondary school. The students started their first lessons on periods 5 and 6 on Thursday. Surpris-ingly most found their way to lessons very well! Also there were boys' and girls' football trials on Thursday evening.
Ms Bailey did her first as-sembly with the Year 7s on Friday and made it clear that Grey Court was a 'telling school', where we encourage students to speak to teachers and not be afraid to speak about things that may be worrying them. Please could you reiterate this to your chil-dren. The students already have their first deadline for their 'first impressions of Grey Court' - the 11th Sep-tember. Also I will be se-lecting four students to speak at Year 6 Open Evening in front of parents. I would also encourage as many Year 7 students as possible to get involved in helping out with subjects on this evening as possi-ble. Open Evening will be on 21st September.
Year 9 Welcome back. Last there were loads of suc-cesses and I look forward to carrying these on into year 9. This year is the first step in your academ-ic journey towards your GCSEs and you will have to make your choices of what to study in year 10. It is important to try your hardest at all subjects and get the best grades possible as they will im-pact your chances in the future. Have a great 2015-2016
Welcome back to all of our students in KS4. Our Year 11's from last Year achieved the best ever GCSE results in Grey Court's history. Well done to you all. This is a result of all the hard work, dedication and determination you all showed. You deserve to succeed!! Our current Year 11's are well aware of our expectations for the year ahead and we wish you all the very best in your pursuit of the best possible outcomes in the summer. Your aim is to improve further on our previous GCSE performance and become 'record-breakers,' yourselves. We also welcome our new Year 10's to the Key Stage. My first impressions have been very positive indeed. I have personally spoken to each and every tutor group on our first morning back about what life is like in KS4 and what we expect from each and every one of our students to ensure they succeed. The end of year letter from Miss Bailey outlined Key Dates for our year groups as well as our strict uniform policy. Following a uniform sweep on the Thursday morning, I can report that the vast majority of our students in KS4 are immaculately dressed. A very small minority were challenged over inappropriate footwear and skirt lengths. I expect this to be resolved asap, as our energies have to be prioritised in ensuring each and every student is achieving their potential and not being spent on chasing up inappropriate uniform. Students will have an Assembly next week whereby our expectations will be rehearsed again, to ensure all students are clear. With lots of events to come and learning to be had, I will leave you with our KS4 message. 'Believe, achieve and be your very best in all you do!' Please contact a member of the KS4 team if you have any queries.

Strathmore School update Despite the summer rain, building work for Strathmore remains on track. The building is really taking shape now and this is an exciting time for Grey Court as we begin our final prepara-tions in welcoming Strathmore School to our site. Throughout this term there will be a series of events explaining this new development to our students and a number of students have already visited Strathmore School as part of partnership work; you will get read Bertie's report next week! The bulletin will continue to provide an insight into this programme every week to ensure our community gets a clear sense of how mo-mentum is progressing before the new school opens in January 2016.

National Championships Rhianna Reynolds (Yr 11) Congratulations to Rhianna, who won a silver medal for triple jump in the South of England Championships on 15th August. She then followed this up with an amazing runner up spot and another silver medal in the England Athletics National Championships in Bedford last weekend. Rhianna was the youngest in the competition and will still be in the same age group next season.
BRITISH GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS update Liverpool The Liverpool Echo Arena is a venue more usually associated with Taylor Swift and One Direction, but earlier in the summer, was home to the British Gymnastics Championship Series; two weeks of competition from across the different disciplines of Gymnastics in front of very large crowds. It was a large and intimidating stage to take, but some of our Grey Court students not only did that, but also came out on top. Bertie Cardillo-Zallo, along with former Grey Court student Chris Cox, took a silver medal in the Men’s Group category at the British Acrobatic Gymnastic Championships. Bertie and Chris both train at Richmond Gymnastics Association in Kew. Natasha Burgess, who trains at Heathrow Gym Club was also a medal-winner at the British Championships. After recently switching into the Team Gym discipline, she took bronze along with her team-mates after a very hard-fought competition.
In a few weeks time, Bertie, along with Tabbie Dawson, will be representing Great Britain at the European Acrobatic Gymnastic Championships in Riesa, Germany.

Croatian National Swimming Championship Filip Blazevic The first National qualifiers kicked off the end of season major championships. Filip Blazevic competed from Saturday 18th July through to Tuesday, 21st July at the Croatian National Championships - which were held outdoors! Grey Court and Kingston Royal Swimming Club would like to congratulate Filip on some really good swims as he managed to PB on every swim, achieving a 5th place finish in the 100m and 200m Freestyle, missing out on a medal by less than seven tenths of a second. He followed those swims up with 7th place in the 400m and 14th in the 100m Breast. Well done Filip!

It is an exciting time for the school with our newly opened sixth form in September 2014. Ofsted graded the School as “outstanding” in March 2013. We are seeking a highly organised Clerk to provide advice on procedural and constitutional matters and professional clerking services to our Governing Body. The post holder will work closely with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher to support governance in this outstanding secondary academy. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Suzanne Price and I have
recently been appointed as the Family Support Worker for Grey Court School.
I have worked at Grey Court School for the past five years as the Student Support Centre
Manager providing academic support, focussing on progress and achievement. During this
time I have enjoyed working with many students and their families.
In my role as Family Support Worker I will be offering students and their families/carers
practical help and support. I will also be working together with teaching staff and other
agencies to help provide the best possible outcomes for all students and their families/carers.
As part of my role I will be monitoring pupils’ attendance as there is evidence that shows
failure to attend school regularly can have a major impact on young peoples’ education,
attainment and their future.
I am looking forward to working in partnership with parents and students supporting them
within our school and local community.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 0208 948 1173 or email:
