Resident council is an independent, organized group of persons who meet monthly to discuss concerns, develop suggestions, and plan activities. At Westview they are kept in a binder at the front nurse’s station. Health inspections are done annually by the Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) and are basically a review of all care and services provided to residents by us. The survey assesses whether the quality of care, as intended by the law and regulations and as needed by the resident, is being provided. A couple of things you might not know about Westview…

Resident Council: What is resident council? Resident council is an

independent, organized group of persons who meet monthly to

discuss concerns, develop suggestions, and plan activities. It is the

perfect opportunity to have an active part in life at Westview and a

chance to influence decisions which affect you; a vehicle to bring

about positive changes for all residents here at Westview.

Grievances/Concerns: When concerns arise, a grievance system is in

place to resolve the issues to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

All employees are responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction

however, our grievance official is Kelly Cozad, Social Worker

Designee. Anyone at any time may file an anonymous, or verbal or

written grievance complaint without fear of threat or reprisal in any

form. We will investigate the concern and find a resolution that

works for everyone.

Health Inspections (survey): The results of all our surveys for the last

3 years are available for public review. At Westview they are kept in

a binder at the front nurse’s station. Health inspections are done

annually by the Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) and are

basically a review of all care and services provided to residents by us.

The survey assesses whether the quality of care, as intended by the

law and regulations and as needed by the resident, is being provided.

While we do our best to provide quality care and meet the needs of

our residents, sometimes we can do better, and our survey helps us

do just that.

Resident spotlight

This month’s resident is Ron Boyer. Mr.

Boyer was born and raised in the Sterling,

Illinois area, where he graduated from High

School in 1961. He worked various jobs

until he became an over-the-road truck

driver. He traveled all over the United

States with his job until he retired. He then

enjoyed spending his winters in Texas with

wife Judy before coming to WVACC. They

would often go out dancing, but also

enjoyed quiet time at home. Ron has a

large family of children and step-children

and loves family gatherings; especially likes

to spend time with the little kids. He loves

his dog Chico, who would sit in his lap and

together they would watch Nascar and westerns.

Just a reminder that when you bring in clothes or other items

for your loved ones, please remember to mark them with

their name or initials. This ensures the clothing and items

remain with your loved one.

Thanks and have a good summer!

Guess Who????

This resident was born in rural Union County

near Gravity. They moved to Garden Grove

and she graduated from the High School there.

She was active in school and was a cheerleader.

She went on to business school in KC and

worked at the bank in Leon and later worked

for SCICAP. She met her husband while working

at the bank and they have 3 children. They

enjoyed camping and traveling with their

family. She has always been involved in the

community.

Last month’s resident was Donna Flummer

And the winner was Tonya Showers!!!

Don’t forget to get your pictures to Kelly!!!

We celebrated National Nurse’s Week in May and National CNA Week in June. We

would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to all the NURSES and CNA’s that work here at

Westview for going above

and beyond caring for the

residents here. We want

them to know that we

appreciate all they do

every day (and night)!!!

Thank you for being so

great!
