Non-Destructive Digging (NDD)

Non-Destructive Digging is also known as Vacuum Excavation, Potholing, Hydro-Excavation, Hydro-Trenching and Non-Invasive Digging. The basic process is the same; pressurised water and a vacuum source are used in conjunction to remove the surrounding material and expose underground assets safely. NDD has become increasingly popular option, with the need to avoid damage to services and assets, and removal elements of risk associated with excavation.

Our combination units have a dedicated system built into our plant for the purposes of NDD. Water pressure can be adjusted to suit the material being prepared for excavation. This process allows for quick, clean and precise excavations, which require less backfill, less labour, less restoration, and less environmental impact than conventional digging methods. A controlled water stream flow allows for surgical precision while removing only material necessary for repair or inspection.

TDC’s Comprehensive reporting system, provides detailed reports with all relevant information on assets located.

Drain & Pipe Cleaning

Obstructed stormwater and sewer lines can quickly escalate in severity from a minor defect to a major environmental concern. This could be caused by tree roots or poor stormwater infrastructure maintenance requiring remediation by specialised equipment and competent operators.

Our Combination Units (Jet-Vac) are high velocity water-jetting units with pressures of up to 2,500psi, and water volume of 350 litres per minute. This combination of pressure and flow is sufficient to move large amounts of debris and cut through masses of tree roots. With our hydraulic rotational hose reel, we can access pits with ease and clean large distances of pipes. TDC combination units are equipped to clean all pipes and culverts from 50mm upwards.

Additionally, we have various nozzles and attachments that are tailored to suit most types of blockages within the pipe. We can blast through a blockage and restore drain functionality during a rain event and remove debris for a spotlessly clean pipe.

Gross Pollutant Traps (GPT’S)

Cleaning of stormwater assets is an integral part of maintaining a clean environment. We consider this to be an essential service to ensure stormwater systems function as intended and waterways are kept free of the many pollutants washed into the stormwater system.

A Gross Pollutant Trap (GPT) is a device designed to trap coarse pollutants in stormwater assets before reaching waterways. A GPT can be installed on drain entrances, outfalls, open channels or underground pipe systems. There are many types of GPTs utilised, all performing a similar function, and TDC are experienced with cleaning all kinds. All units are dewatered and all waste is removed every time. This is critical for prolonging the life of the asset and for auditing requirements.

TDC’s fleet of bespoke vehicles and plant, have been designed to effectively clean GPTs.

TDC’s combination units, have industry best vacuum power, enabling us to service greater heights and distance. TDC have established a track record with many thousands of industrial projects successfully completed, such as media removal, deep sewer cleaning and long-distance sludge removal.

We also clean stormwater retention/detention pits, basin pump wells, tanks, ponds and vessels. Our 8 inch vacuum system allows us to increase productivity as we can remove large amounts of debris in one go, further saving our customers time and money.

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

Whether you require an inspection to find a blockage or need an entire catchment surveyed, TDC can tailor a CCTV camera system to satisfy project requirements. Our systems are built to suit all sizes of sewer and stormwater assets. TDC’s remotely operated CCTV robotics are 6-wheel drive and can navigate through bends and pits with ease. Detailed reports are produced for CCTV inspections with structural and serviceability ratings generated to provide an overall condition report of the asset(s). We can also provide Graphic Information System (GIS) mapping of assets.

Customers specific templates can be developed to ensure all required information such as asset ID’s and specific pipe data are incorporated prior to the survey commencing. We can also create reports with detailed rehabilitation costing and advice on all types of asset repair.

Additionally, our CCTV units are capable of silent running, which utilises inverter technology in place of noisy generators. These are mainly used for night works and within urban areas to avoid noise disturbances to nearby residents.

TDC is NATA accredited in CCTV technical competence.

Pipe Rehabilitation

ROBOTICS

Whether it is a large pipe displacement, cracks and fractures, concrete slurry ingress or an intruding connection there is no need for unnecessary expensive and messy excavation to repair the pipe. TDC can carry out the repairs from the pipe internally.

Using our hi-torque robotic system, we can cut and grind most size pipes, easily removing unwanted material and intrusions restoring total hydraulic functionality.

IN PIPE PATCHING

For defects such as infiltration/exfiltration, cracks/fractures, breaks and open joints, considering installing a localised structure patch with a 100-year design life.

TDC’s exclusive patching system is installed at a fraction of the cost of ‘dig and repair’ or ‘full relining’ and are typically stronger than that of the host pipe.

Patches can be installed up to 1050mm in diameter. Man-entry hand repairs can also be carried out in large applications. Our Pipe Rehabilitation Units are able to operate in remote locations with suitable equipment to access back yards and difficult locations.

Bulk Liquid Transport

TDC provide industrial vacuum truck services for the collection and/or disposal of liquid waste. We can provide a solution for your pump outs and maintenance shut down requirements. In addition, this service can be supported with our combination jet-vac units and confined space teams for larger jobs that require an efficient transport option.

Different to your normal vacuum tanker, our tankers are purpose built for easy removal of slurries and sludges, without using additional water to dilute the solid masses. Additionally, our tankers come equipped with a high-pressure hose to provide a comprehensive asset clean. These tankers are ideally suited to pumping out concrete slurries, sewerage sludge, oily materials and other materials that a standard vacuum tanker would struggle with. Our tankers are built to hold a capacity of 22,000 litres and have the benefit of an opening rear door, allowing the sludge to be easily decanted to provide an efficient turn around times.

Confined Space Entry

TDC understands the hazards that exist in confined spaces and employs strict safe working procedures during its operations. TDC can provide confined space trained team members and equipment, which enables TDC to carry out works where man entry would not normally be possible.

In addition to this competency, we can also manage confined space entry works for customers needing to access these otherwise inaccessible areas. TDC have experience working in the most volatile atmospheres such as spaces with limited oxygen levels. Confined space entry is expertly completed of our routine project application and our operators are trained and competent to perform this activity safely.

All of our units are complete with the necessary equipment to perform safe confined space entry works.

Maintenance & Repairs

TDC’s extensive experience in servicing stormwater assets, has us well placed to identify defects and provide recommendations on the best course of repair or remediation. In most cases, TDC can complete the required repairs and/or replacements of components or whole assets.

Furthermore, TDC can provide valuable advice on installation of new and upgrades of old assets, to ensure the network can be functions efficiently and effectively.
