Enjoyment knows no boundary, which could not be more true in the restaurants of the GROSSARLER HOF, where our chef Walter Viehhauser focuses on regional specialities – working closely with the Pongau enjoyment region – and with game and fish in highest demand. Culinary delights abound in our Alpine-elegant restaurant or the à la carte restaurant Jagastub’n where you find yourself transported back to an ambiance of old movies: linen tablecloths, gnarled chairs and benches, tiled stove and hunting trophies. This world of enjoyment is rounded off with our superbly assorted cellar – the wines are predominantly Austrian, complimented by rare vintages from the bordeaux region. during our weekly wine tasting guests can expect exciting tasting sessions of first class wines from established growers and notable young vintners.

The Grossarler Ache has a fishing area of about 18km length and is supplemented by numerous tributaries in idyllic side valleys. The water shows typical mountain stream character with the upper part of the track on a meandering course. At the upper limit of the region the Ache is fed by a small lake, ensuring optimal water conditions for our fly fishing guests almost all year round.

The Grossarler Ache offers an abundance of life, primarily brown trout and brook trout frolic in the waters, with certain track sections also being the home to grayling. On the equipment side we recommend rods of line classes 4 & 5 for fishing with dry flies – also ideal for wet flies and nymphs.

Following our nature and conservation values, all fish caught are released back to the water. Should an angler wish to eat his

fish, it can of course be brought to the hotel where our chef Walter Viehhauser will be delighted to prepare it according to guests’ wishes. in cooperation with the enterprise Austria Guiding we offer fly fishing courses over several days as well as individual one-to-one guiding. Fishing novices will make the acquaintance of trainer urs zulian, certified fly casting instructor EFFA Europe, as a professional guide with advice and practical help. At the same time expert fishing disciples will be simply blown away by the high altitude venue surrounded by breathtaking mountains.
