Is the height of adult males ages 18-30 related to wingspan?
Height vs. Wingspan Our first quantitative variable is
wingspan measured in inches, of adult males between 18-30 years of age.
Our second quantitative variable is height measured in inches, of adult males between 18-30 years of age.
Data was gathered by randomly selecting adult males in this age range and measuring them
In order to discover if there was a significant correlation between height and wingspan, we gathered information from
25 men between ages of 18-35 to participate in the study.

Scatter Plot Y=0.88x+20.88
Results and Summary Linear correlation coefficient r=0.8705, there is a
moderate to strong positive linear relationship. Y=0.88x+20.88 Critical Value=.396 We had 25 individuals in the sample, which
equals 23(df). With significance level of .05, the absolute value of the correlation coefficient is .396. This value is above .381, so there is only a statistically significant relationship between wingspan and height, and the hypothesis must be rejected unless more subjects are included in the study.
Conclusion The relationship between
wingspan and height is only statistically significant.
72% of individuals measured had wingspans greater than that of their height, 8% had height and wingspan that were the same, 20% were taller than wingspan.
The average proportion difference between height and wingspan is 1.015.
Our conclusion is that wingspan and height are related and wingspan is usually about 1 inch greater than height in adult males.
