APPLICATION SOFTWARE:

Application software in turn can be dividedinto two catagories-

1. Basic Applications(general purpose applications &productivity applications)

2. Special Applications(special purpose application)



•Most applications use a graphical userinterface (GUI) that displays graphicalelements called icons to elements calledicons to represent familiar objects & a

mouse.

• They contain small outlined areas calledbuttons that provide shortcuts for quickaccess to commonly used commands.



WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS:

• Application programs are owned byindividuals or organization & stored on theircomputer systems hard disk.

• To use one of these Web-basedapplications, you would connect to the

ASP, copy the application program to yourcomputer systems memory & then theapplication.



WORD PROCESSORS:

Word processing software creates text-

based documents. Features include wordwarp & tools for entering, editing &formating text.

• Spelling Checker:correcting spelling & typing errorsidentified.

• Grammar Checker:incomplete sentence & incorrectpunctuation are identified & corrections areoffered by the grammer checker.



• Center Aligning:center aligning all of the text in the flyercreates a comfortable, balancedappearance.

• Table:to concisely present & organize the

weather information, we can used a table.

SPREADSHEETS:

• Spreadsheet programs organize, analyze &graph numeric data such as budgets &

• The three most widely used spreadsheet

programs are Microsoft Excel, CorelQuattro pro. & Lotus 1-2-3.



FEATURES:•

Manipulate text & create text documents aewell as numeric data & create workbookfiles.

• Workbook files consist of one or morerelated worksheets.

• A worksheet also known as a spreadsheetor sheet is a rectangular grid of rows &columns



• The intersection of a row & coulumn

creates a cell.

• Text entries or labels provide structure to aworksheet by describing the contents ofrows & column.

• A numeric entry can be a number orformula.

• A formula is an instruction to calculate orprocess.

business suites. Microsoft office is the

perfect example of productivity suite.

Personal Suite: Known as Home Suite.

Specialized Suite: It focuses on specific

application. Graphical suites, financial

planning suites are specialized suites.

Utility Suite: It is made to make

computing easier & faster. Norton PC suite

is the example of Utility suites.

and then select the copy command.go tothe file where data is to be inserted.

• Object linking and embedding(OLE):object

linking.a copy of the object from a sourcefile is inserted in a destination file.

• Object embedding,the object from asource file is added or embedded to thedestinstion document.
