GROUP FITNESS COORDINATOR Job Title: Group Fitness Coordinator FLSA Status: Status: Non-Exempt Part-Time-hourly Department: Wellness Reports to: Executive Director Revision Date: 8/15/18 POSITION SUMMARY: The Group Fitness Instructor/Coordinator supervises all Group Fitness Instructors, maintains the class schedule and coordinates all facets of the Group Fitness programs. Primary responsibilities: This position requires extensive experience in teaching a variety of Group Fitness Classes. The incumbent must maintain a National Group Fitness Instructor certification and current CPR certification. The incumbent must be able to work independently, supervise and guide staff. The incumbent must be able to relate well with direct supervisor, staff, members and community agencies; complete all other projects as assigned by your supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Demonstrate character development values of caring, honest, respect, and responsibility in all decision-making, member and staff interactions, meetings, etc. 2. Ensure overall quality customer service. 3. Position requires 4-6 hours per weekday and will include some evening and weekend hours as needed. 4. Project a professional image at all times including neat appearance and positive manner. 5. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all Group Fitness Instructors. 6. Schedule all Group Fitness classes and update schedules seasonally, as needed. 7. Keep schedules available at the Welcome Center and throughout the building. 8. Communicate updated schedules and program information with the Membership Director and Digital Communications Coordinator to update website. 9. Monitor Group Fitness Instructor certifications to ensure all are current. 10. Maintain Fitness Studios/Yoga Room/Spin Studio equipment, notify supervisor when equipment is needed. 11. Coordinate current group fitness specialty classes and create new programs based on member needs. 12. Research and stay abreast of new Group Fitness trends and liability issues. 13. Participate in branch activities and help where needed with the Annual Support Campaign. 14. Finish and approve payroll at the end of each pay period. 15. Schedule one staff meeting/appreciation event per year. 16. Must maintain regular communication with supervisor about group fitness happenings, scheduled time off, and other factors pertaining to the group fitness department. 17. Perform all other duties deemed necessary by supervisor. SAFETY: Continuously monitor members for signs of distress at all times. YMCA Emergency Procedures must be followed when needed. All accidents or injuries must be immediately recorded on the YMCA Accident/Incident Report and submitted to Executive Director.

GROUP FITNESS COORDINATOR

DRESS CODE:

• Coordinator must wear assigned YMCA staff shirt or suitable alternative during scheduled work hours. Attire must be professional and neat, no extreme low cut tights/shorts.

• Fitness-related degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Previous supervisory experience in wellness preferred. • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software. • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments

of the community.
