Piedmont with Boscolo

Lying in the foothills of the Alps, the Piedmont

is a varied and complex region magnificent to

behold. Bathed by the Po River, it is rich in hills

and valleys, lakes and parks.

Visitors can experience both the ancient and

modern history. The leading industries of the

post-war economic boom are located in the

major business center Turin. It is also one of

the most culturally and historically rich cities

in the entire world, with the Museo Egizio

(Egyptian Museum), the Shroud of Turin and its

distinctive Baroque architecture.

One of Italy’s most progressive culinary

scenes, the Piedmont never fails to impress at

the table. Barolo, Barbaresco and Moscato

d’Asti wines flow aside traditional dishes

such as Agnolotti, Stuffed Raviolis, Gnocchi

and Bagna càuda. Finish the meal perfectly

with Gianduiotto chocolates from Turin for

dessert.

Surrounded by parks and gardens, the

Piedmont offers an ideal setting with infinite

possibilities to create lasting memories.

Milan, the fashion capital, is the economic and

opulent historical buildings and the “Galleria”, a

catwalk of the most prestigious designer labels.

Lombardi offers an experience that combines

new world style with old world charm; the

Lake Como, originally called Lario and

mentioned by Manzoni in “The Betrothed”,

fascinates us today, as it did the great 19th

century authors. It is a timeless, magical place

with gardens brimming full of azaleas and

geraniums on the crests of terraces that

descend towards the shores, marked by lush

capes that continue to surprise those who

navigate the water.

Lake Garda, the biggest of the lakes, is nestled

between three regions; Lombardy, Veneto

and Trentino. It is an incredible combination

of culture, nature and fun, full of things to do

while basking in the glow of sparkling sunlight.

Along the coast of the lake visit Sirmione,

Garda, Bardolino, Lazise, and then travel up

to Gargnano, Malcesine and Riva del Garda,

finally arriving in Trentino. Everywhere you

look there are towers and castles, stark

reminders of ancient rivalries between the

two sides of the lake: the Scaliger family of

Verona and the Visconti family of Milan.

Here cultivations of lemon, cedar and

bergamot trees compete for supremacy with

vineyards and olive trees. The oil from Garda

is sublime, the precious nectar from this

lakeside Eden. Enjoy the best the lakes can

offer, with Boscolo.

Veneto, a land that is rich in everything: it

offers magnificent landscapes, cities full of

history, culture and tradition; it is famous for

its hospitality, regional wines and cuisine. Visit

Venice, a maritime republic for a thousand

The Euganean and Berici hills, covered in

vineyards, are where Petrarch found his Tuscan

world and it was there that he decided to put

down roots.

Verona tells its story with the Arena, testimony

to a powerful Roman presence, and the

medieval works from the Scaliger family rule.

Padua, the city of the Saint, has elegance and

discreet charm, with its basilicas and squares,

the chapel frescoed by Giotto and shopping

under the porticos.

Vicenza and Treviso with its March, façades

and buildings covered in frescos, are held

inside walls from the Renaissance, where the

essence of this intimate world envelops you.

Inside walled cities, such as Soave, Marostica,

Cittadella, Este and Montagnana, echoes of

in the wind on top of towers.

The Dolomites, from the Ampezzo basin

Like the famous tortellini from the region, it

satisfies the palate and the spirit.

Its towers, looming over the city, have reassured

us for seven centuries; stability beyond

everything.

Parma and Reggio, synonymous with two of

Italy’s gastronomical masterpieces, Prosciutto

di Parma and Parmigiano Reggiano, represent

excellence in taste throughout the world.

Discover Ravenna and its masterpieces of

Byzantine art; San Marino and Montefeltro;

ferrara with its city walls and Estense castle,

intact throughout the centuries; each city and

town a gem to be discovered.

Emilia-Romagna is like a Mosaic with a

multitude of tiles with incredible colors.

Together the tiles can form a picture of

Rimini, icon of the Romagna Riviera and a

Neverland for enthusiasts of pure fun, also

reveals, to more serious visitors, fragments of

history of the House of Malatesta that brought

opulence in the past to this region.

Apulia, sometimes referred to as Puglia or

Le Puglie, is the heel of the boot of Italy

which juts out towards the Greek and Middle

Eastern world. This mysterious land, caught

between the Adriatic and Mediterranean

seas, offers incomparable natural marvels; the

Gargano coast, in the province of foggia, the

Tremiti Islands, parks and natural protected

areas; sites where nature and time have

shaped the earth such as the Castellana

Caves and also where, it has been man,

The rule by Emperor Frederick II during the

Middle Ages was full of impulse and splendor

and brought many dazzling constructions,

such as Castel del Monte, the Basilica

and Church of San Nicola in Bari and the

Cathedral of Trani, that majestically illustrate

this period.

A striking combination of history and

art is found in many other parts of the

region, where innumerable cathedrals were

constructed throughout the course of the

since prehistory, to creatively carve into

reality, with brilliant conical constructions of

dry stone like the Trulli. They are the very

symbol of Apulia, found specifically in the Itria

Valley near Alberobello. A fiery population

of ancient origins, the Apulian people have a

pronounced sense of humor and easygoing

Have you ever heard the saying “visit Sicily to

see Greece?”

Actually, Agrigento, Selinunte, Segesta and

Syracuse, along with many other centers

improperly defined as “minor,” are among the

most spectacular cities remaining from the

Hellenic world.

Visiting the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento

or seeing a play in the grandiose Greek

Theatre of Syracuse is like bringing the Classic

world back from the past.

Sicily provides the perfect synthesis of the

grandest civilizations and cultures from all ages,

it is living book of cultural and art history.

As an island, Sicily has a light and natural

beauty, a splendid and untouched coast;

a refined cuisine with strong Arab

and Mediterranean influences. Sicily is

quintessential Mediterranean.

Many cities and minor towns have

Romanesque cathedrals, others Baroque, and

Vallo; sweetly scented orange groves terraced

between Arab gardens and beams and ancient

manor farms;

Images everywhere fill your mind. Sicilian carts

in the shade of narrow streets. Remember the

plate of couscous or tasty fish. Smiling faces,

the company of friends. The city of Marsala ot

the smoldering cauldron of Mount Etna. Sicily

is waiting with a thousand ways for you to

enjoy it, a thousand ways with Boscolo.

both equally ornate.

Proud castles and medieval bulwarks can

be seen everywhere in Catania, Modica,

Caltabellotta and Erice.

Gold and enamel is resplendent in the

Cathedral of Monreale. Taormina and its

splendid Greco-Roman theatre; the saltpans

in Trapani, Motya, the white Heraclea Minoa,

the quarries of Cuma, a vestige of Norman

rule in Castelvetrano, the picturesque return

of the fishing boats at sunset in Mazara del

If change is prized in modern society,

“resistance to change” highly valued here.

Preserving the ways of bygone days has its

own poetic and symbolic significance which

is felt by all those who visit this beautiful

island.

It is a paradise that, despite the ups and

downs of history over the centuries, remains

unaffected by the passage of time.

Everywhere you go you have a crystal sea

along rocky coasts, dreamlike beaches, such

as Villasimius, and magical bays, where the

sea reproduces all marine colors, from

turquoise to the most intense cobalt blue.

Rich museum centers in the cities, villages

and pastures in the backcountry, Sardinian

cork forests, Neptune’s Grotto in Alghero,

Roman ruins in Tharros, the mines of Sulcis

Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Spanish, Genoese

and Tuscans, each has left a mark on the

culture and thus on the cuisine.

Try Cannonau wine or a Vermentino di

Gallura, taste the Pecorino cheese, discover

the Sardinian speciality roast suckling pig

called porceddu. Try Pane Carasau, a crisp

flatbread, bottarga and lobster along with

Malvasia or Vernaccia di Oristano wines. Finish

the meal with sweets made from almond

paste and Mirto, a popular Sardinian liqueur.

Sardinia, a Boscolo Travel experience, in

the land of myth and giants, a moment in

time captured for us in an atmosphere that

exceeds our greatest expectations.

Just as the locals have a reserved and

unpretentious nature, nature does too.

Along with its astonishing beauty, it has a

raw quality to its landscape. Though always

dazzling and pure, Sardinia is almost primitive.

The nuraghe are powerful wall structures

that are up to five meters thick. Residences

and fortresses constructed by a mythical

population still shrouded in mystery are,

themselves, the synthesis of this perception.

and of Campidano are all must-see sites. The

ancient traditions with different expressions

of Sardinian culture, like the Mamuthones

with cowbells and black wooden masks in

the Sardinian Carnival offer a primitive, yet

mystical experience.

And finally, not to be bested by other regions

at the table, Sardinia has the least Italian

cuisine of them all. Throughout the centuries,

the domain of many different populations,

Spain with Boscolo

Spain is a crossroads of culture, a cauldron of

history and pride.

Picturesque, passionate and fiery, it is capable

of rendering strong, yet also profound,

creative, romantic and poetic emotions.

Coastlines cover 2,500 km. Basque Country

to the north faces the Atlantic which gives

it an oceanic climate. The extensive east and

south-east coast stretches from the Balearic

Sea to the Mediterranean, passing south from

the Costa Brava towards Alicante and the

Costa del Sol, all the way down to Gibraltar.

Together with the Mediterranean, Spain

provides the hyphen between Europe and the

African continent.

The long Arab domination gave this region

a permanent artistic and architectural

imprint, shown fantastically by the Alhambra

in Granada: a walled palace and fortress

complex, considered among the Wonders of

the World.

Visit Malaga, Cordova and its Mosque,

Valencia, Seville and the Giralda, a bell tower

for the cathedral, and Toledo with its famous

Damascus steel.

For centuries Gothic, Baroque, Moorish

and European cultures have illuminated art,

literature and science in Spain, a legacy worth

taking the time to explore.

Spain, a country rich in cultural icons.

Bullfighting with the running of the bulls

in Pamplona and the refined equestrian

exhibitions of Andalusian horses are among

the most iconic symbols of Spain.

The distinctive art of Picasso and Goya, the

Museo del Prado in Madrid, Gaudì and his

masterful innovations, such as the Sagrada

Familia in Barcelona.

Catholic tradition and religious spirit is deeply

rooted in Spain. Medieval Castles symbolize

the “Reconquista”, a 750-year war fought

to liberate the Iberian Peninsula from the

Moorish Kingdom.

Experience a taste of Spanish culture by

strolling through La Rambla, a characteristic

street in Barcelona. Enjoy sangria at the

Madrilenian “movida”, lively Spanish nights that

buzz to the rhythm of Flamenco music in the

characteristic Tablao.

Here, even the dance, moving and sensual,

accompanied by the unmistakable guitar and

castanets, has a meaning and ritual full of

symbolism and intrigue.

The Spanish islands, Ibiza, formentera and

together to form an authentic Spanish feast.

Allow Boscolo to show you how.

St. James’ Way is an illuminating example of

it. In a group or by themselves, people from

all over the world, moved by a desire for

spirituality and peace, take a pilgrimage from

the Pyrenees that arrives almost to Cape

Finisterre on the Atlantic coast where, as its

name implies, the land ends.

However the curiosity for learning and

discovering does not end here.

Come back and try other trips that Boscolo

this world, where everything awaits the

Spain never disappoints at the table.

Thanks to Christopher Columbus, Spanish

cuisine was the first to introduce products

from the Americas; potatoes, tomatoes,

corn and cocoa. Delight in seafood

further inland, recipes of pork, lamb and

Rediscover Great European Capitals

AMSTERDAM

If windmills and clogs are traditional symbols of

the Netherlands, cleanliness and freedom are

the distinctive features of this city.

Perhaps erroneously called the Venice of the

north, Amsterdam has its own fascinating

personality.

Take a walk through the city’s historic center,

you will feel free and laidback.

The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum,

arched bridges and canals weave between

floating houses as carefree cyclists ride in

the crisp, clean air. Flower stands go on for

miles and fresh smoked herring sandwiches,

cheeses and curiosity fill the markets. Bistros

line tiny streets and small squares are cheerfully

crowded, nudged between red brick buildings

with large windows and narrow staircases

inside.

The famous “coffee shops” and the picturesque

Red Light District are icons of a freedom that

only appears unconventional for those who

come from the outside.

It is a world that lives the everyday as if it were

in a display case, with a strong civic pride and

respect for other’s freedoms.

Amsterdam, an aqueous jewel, opens its arms

wide to its visitors; always bright, cultured and

clear, precisely like its waters.

LONDRA

The bowler hat and the umbrella, red double-

decker buses, black cabs, the familiar red

telephone box, a monarchy on the rise; if you

are looking for a city, conservative by definition

and strongly anchored to its traditions, look no

further than along the banks of the Thames.

You will discover not only a monumental city,

rich in history, but also a giant machine churning

with plans and modernism. It has always had an

excellent music scene and a great tradition of

museums, both colorful and progressive along

with more gothic and serious. London played

host to the 2012 summer Olympics and thereby

enriched its infrastructure with new ultramodern

architectural works without losing its essence.

London spoils you for variety: Buckingham

Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, the British

Museum, the National Gallery, the Victoria and

Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum,

the Science Museum, the National Maritime

Museum, Piccadilly Circus, Portobello Market,

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and Hyde Park.

Choose whatever appeals to you most and

leave the rest to Boscolo.

century palaces, above which new skyline

BUDAPEST

Known as the “Pearl of the Danube,” the

river separates the city between Buda, the

old city, and Pest the newer part. Budapest

has that sophisticated and majestic air which

distinguishes the great European capital cities.

Here, as in Vienna, an island divides the

Danube into two branches. Margaret Island is

a park and recreational area, a destination for

tourists and a place to relax and play sports.

Moving around Budapest in a group is very

easy and there is a lot to see: the Royal

Palace, the Museums of Castle Hill, the ruins

from an ancient roman settlement, one of

the largest ice skating rinks in the world, and

the thermal baths from a longstanding spa

tradition.

Budapest offers a lively and cosmopolitan

lifestyle. Tour elegant baroque buildings,

museums and churches, stop into a

traditional coffeehouse to relax before

heading to a typical restaurant to sample the

local cuisine. Top it all off with an evening at

the opera followed by drinks at a club or an

after-hours lounge.

In the second capital of the Habsburg

Empire, you have it all; history, culture and

fun. Discover Budapest with Boscolo.
