KS1 Christmas Concert
This amazing spectacle of colour and warmth took place on Tuesday and I am sure the added effect of parents
waiting in almost sub-zero temperatures confirmed that winter is now with us. The children looked absolutely
delightful in their costumes (thanks to parents and carers) and performed their hearts out in front of an
enthusiastic audience. As I said on the day there has been so much work put into the performance which is often
overlooked or forgotten. The logistics of managing 120 Y1 and Y2 children take some skill and forethought!
Well done to all of the staff for achieving this feat of organisation.
The school has received a range of feedback regarding the format, organisation and overall impact upon which the
school will reflect for future such events. We were quite overwhelmed by the number of people attending and
therefore it may make sense to have two performances next year to ease the congestion. This may also help to
reduce the tension, as parents were very keen to get to their seats. Another suggestion was to ‘ticket’ the event
and limit each family to a certain number. The school will also consider how parents and carers will be able to see
more of their child in action throughout the performance.
Early Years Performance
Well done to all of the children in the Nursery and Reception who gave us a splendid performance this morning at their Christmas Concert. They performed to a packed house with great confidence and remembered all of their
lines and actions to the songs. They looked fantastic in their costumes and thanks to all of the parents and carers who provided them. I am sure that all the families will take away some lovely memories from today.
A final thanks to all of the staff and volunteers who made it such a wonderful event.
The Christmas Fair was a huge success! The conditions were perfect on the day, the frosty air, the smell of pine
trees and the aroma of coffee… and that was even before you entered the school! It was lovely to meet so many
new faces throughout the day and the many positive comments about the general atmosphere at our fair. The
school would like to thank Melanie and the whole PTA team who made this experience so enjoyable for everyone.
The organisation of the event was first class and the setting up and clearing up were carried out with military
precision. The sum raised on the day will be in excess of £6,000 which is a true reflection of the whole school
community’s continued commitment to improving the learning experiences of all our children.
Remember - be on time at five to nine!
Please make sure your children are in school on time.
This week’s attendance winners are …..
1st 97.3 Blossom
2nd 95.4 Y2 Maple
3rd 95 Y1 Hazel
On Thursday Years 5 & 6 definitely started to feel very festive when our local elderly residents came in for the
afternoon. Year 6 looked extremely smart in crisp white shirts and beautifully designed bow ties. They welcomed
our guests, showed them to their seats and served them a lovely tea. We found out lots about their lives in
Chiswick and even about their lives in World War 2. There was the much awaited raffle, beautiful singing from
Years 5 and 6 and finally a visit from Father Christmas with presents for all our guests. It was a another lovely
occasion and we thank Ms McCarthy, Coleen Hiscocks, Debbie Harewood, Imogen Tongyoun and Alex Willis for
organising this wonderful occasion, Cindy Kuypers for arranging the beautiful carol singing, all the staff and
children for their help and, of course, Santa himself (Tyree Engeham)! We are keen to invite a few more guests,
so if you have an elderly relative or neighbour who lives very close to Grove Park and would like to come along
next year please let Lottie in the office know, so she can add them to the mailing list.
