GTAC Security Company Violated Multiple Laws -
Sierra Club Files Complaints
Madison:The Sierra Club today filed a complaint with the Iron County District Attorneys office
regarding the illegal activities undertaken by Bulletproof Securities while employed by Gogebic
Taconite (GTAC) recently. The Sierra Club has also requested the state Department of Safety andProfessional Services deny a license application by Bulletproof Securities to operate as a Private
Detective/Security Agency in Wisconsin based on the same violations.
Ignorance is no excuse for violating state law said John Muir Chapter Director Shahla Werner, PhD.There is no justification for openly carrying assault weapons without a license. Gogebic Taconite has
admitted that it hired Bulletproof and that Bulletproof was not licensed to operate here at any time. The
violations are numerous and if convicted, Bulletproof Securities should be barred from holding a licenseand operating in Wisconsin.
How can local citizens trust GTAC to follow the rule of law orhire local when it comes to mining,
when they have already shown that they arent willing to follow basic rules when procuring armedsecurity guards? asked Dave Blouin, Mining Chair, Sierra Club John Muir Chapter.
The Sierra Club filed a complaint with Iron County District Attorney Martin Lipskeand arequest forapplication denial with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. We hope that
taking a more reasonable approach to security will diffuse tensions, protect northwoods tourism, and
prevent the potential for dangerous misunderstandings in the future.
