MTC Course Offerings:Biotechnology – explores the use of biotechnology to increase plant production, explore the global crop economy, plant development and g p y, p penvironmental management and preservation.Environmental Plant Sciences –science & art of ornamental plants, plant physiology, production and floriculture Students complete both the Virginiafloriculture. Advanced Networking - a one year course where students learn to design, install, configure, operate and troubleshoot simple and complex networks Topics include network architecture industryoperate, and troubleshoot simple and complex networks. Topics include network architecture, industry standards, and communication protocols; network devices (such as routers, switches, and hubs) media selection; data transmission; and cabling.

This Career Cluster represents the field of Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security - Planning, managing, and providing legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services.

MTC Course Offerings:Administration of Justice – this course prepares students for entry level employment in the law enforcement and criminal justice system as well as post-secondary education for related fields in criminal justice political science and lawrelated fields in criminal justice, political science, and law.

Firefighter I/II – this is a one year program where students are taught the Virginia Department of Fire Programs curriculum. Emphasis is placed on moving the new firefighter ahead to be more prepared and assume more of a leadership role within a department

This Career Cluster represents the field of Manufacturing - Planning, managing and performing the processing of materials into intermediate or final products and related professional and technical support activities such as production planning and control, maintenance and manufacturing/process engineering.

MTC Course Offerings:Welding I/II – students are instructed in the oxy-fuel and arc welding processes. Students are trained in welding, cutting, and brazing. Instruction is provided to prepare students for the American Welding p p p gSociety Test, and construction and repair of metal projects. Course emphasis is on shielded metal arc welding in the horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. Advanced work on the MIG and TIG processes and an introduction to plasma arc will also be included.p

Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning (HVAC) I/II – instruction includes basic electricity, safety, the physics of the refrigeration process, soldering and silver brazing electrical components and controls wiring diagramsand silver brazing, electrical components and controls, wiring diagrams, basic plumbing, sheet metal fabrication, and duct installation. Students learn to install, maintain, and repair heating and cooling equipment. Students take the EPA Certification Exam, the Universal R-410A Certification Exam, and any or all of the 12 HVAC Excellence Exams and the NCCT (Nationaland any or all of the 12 HVAC Excellence Exams and the NCCT (National Construction Career Test).

MTC Course Offerings:Computer Integrated Engineering & Design-CIED (Introduction to Engineering) -p g g g g ( g g)this course provides students with a foundation of skills needed for manufacturing and engineering in today’s “high tech” workplace. The course focus is on hands-on, task-based activities where students learn and practice industrial and engineering skills. Students follow a self-paced curriculum covering robotics, CAD/CAM, electrical systems, fluid systems, materials engineering, mechanical systems, quality assurance, and computer control. CIED gives students a jump start in pursuing careers in engineering and engineering technology.

This Career Cluster represents the field of Transportation, Distribution & Logistics - Planning management and movement of people materials andLogistics Planning, management, and movement of people, materials, and goods by road, pipeline, air, rail and water and related professional and technical support services such as transportation infrastructure planning and management, logistics services, mobile equipment and facility maintenance.

MTC Course Offerings:Auto Collision Repair Technology I/II – course trains students to use shop materials, equipment tools procedures and manuals in the auto body and auto refinishing fieldsequipment, tools, procedures and manuals in the auto body and auto refinishing fields. Basic welding, aligning , roughing out, and replacing and refinishing (painting) of auto body sheet metal, plastics, urethane, and composites are among the skills.

A S i i T h l I/II h d l h hAuto Servicing Technology I/II – a two-year program where students learn through an industry standard curriculum, certified by ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and NATEF (National Automotive Technician Educational Foundation). Course trains students to proceed from the basic to advanced level technician in brakes, engine repair, manual d i t i d l t ti t i i d t l d i diti idrive train and axles, automatic transmission and transaxles, and air conditioning.

MTC Course Offerings:Cosmetology I/II a two year course that prepares students for the basics of shampooing

individuals for employment in career pathways that relate to families and human needs.

Cosmetology I/II – a two year course that prepares students for the basics of shampooing and hairstyling, scalp treatments, hair cutting, finger waving, pin curling, roller techniques, chemical relaxing, permanent waving, hair coloring, facials, makeup, wig care, manicuring. Related subjects include public health, personal hygiene, bacteriology, anatomy & physiology and salon management Students will take the State Board ofphysiology, and salon management. Students will take the State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Exam in their second year of the course, passing the State Board exam is required to be employed as a licensed cosmetologist.

Nail Design Technology – a one year course to become a nail technician. Topics include safety, knowledge and chemistry of products, hand and foot anatomy, nail structure, diseases of the hands and feet, and career opportunities. Students will learn basic and , ppadvanced skill sin manicuring, pedicuring, hand & foot massage, nail tips, sculptured nails, nail wraps, nail art, and gel procedures. Students are expected to sit for the State Board Examination which is required in order to obtain employment in the field.
