REGENTS & HONORS LEVEL
• REGENTS LEVEL– Available to all students
• HONORS LEVEL– Admission is based on prerequisites and teacher
recommendations
ADVANCED PLACEMENT LEVEL
• College Level Classes
• Students may earn advanced standing in college upon successful performance on mandatory AP exams administered in May (students are required to pay exam fee)
• Prerequisites may be required
• Self-selection policy
• Taking the AP assessment is mandatory
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE LEVEL
• College level classes offered to Grade 11 and 12 only
• Students may qualify to earn advanced standing in college upon successful performance on the mandatory IB internal and external exams administered in May (students are required to pay a portion of these exam fees)
• Self-selection policy• Taking the IB assessments is mandatory
GRADE POINT AVERAGE
• G.P.A.– Final GPA is calculated based on the first six
semesters - Grades 9, 10, and 11 - and is generated in fall of the senior year
– Highly significant to class standing and to the college application process
– Regents exams and final exams count as 20% of the yearly grade
WEIGHTED AVERAGE
• Honors courses– If a student earns a numeric final grade of
85% or higher in a course, three points are added to the final numeric grade
• AP/IB courses– If a student earns a numeric final grade of
85% or higher in a course, six points are added to the final numeric grade
HONOR ROLL
• High Honor Roll
– Quarterly average must be 89.5 or higher
– No incomplete grades– No failures
• Honor Roll
– Quarterly average must be 84.5 or higher
– No incomplete grades– No failures
ASSESSMENTS
• PSAT
• SAT Reasoning Test
• SAT Subject Tests
• ACT
PSAT
• Preliminary SAT assessment for experience and practice
• Half the length of the SAT I test– 2 hours and 10 minutes
• Students in grades 10 & 11 are encouraged to take the PSAT
• National merit semifinalists and commended scholars are chosen from students in Grade 11 who take the PSAT
• Given in October at LVHS
SAT REASONING TEST
• Primary assessment that colleges consider for admission
• Colleges will look at highest combined scores
• ALL SAT Reasoning scores are reportable
• Students in Grades 11 & 12 are advised to take the SAT I test
SAT SUBJECT TESTS
• SAT Subject Tests may be required by Colleges
• Each test is one hour in length
• All Subject Test scores must be reported

• ACT is another college assessment available
• Scores do not have to be reported unless the student chooses to do so
• Students in Grades 11 & 12 may take the ACT test in addition to the SAT
ACCOMMODATIONS
• Students eligible to receive accommodations should check with the Individual Needs Department
• Students must apply for accommodations for each test separately:– PSAT/SAT/AP– ACT– IB

PROGRESS REPORTS
• Give an indication of the student’s achievement at the midpoint of each quarter
• First Progress Report was mailed home on Oct. 13
• December 15, March 6, May 11
REPORT CARDS
Report Cards are issued at the end of each quarter
• 1st ends November 3. – Mailed Nov. 15
• 2nd ends January 29. – Mailed Feb. 6
• 3rd ends April 13. – Mailed April 23
• 4th ends June 22. – Mailed in July
PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES
• Provide an opportunity to meet with individual teachers to speak about student’s achievement
