• Women in South Africa have in the past been either at the lowest end of any
form of business or totally excluded.
• The Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme
(REI4P) has been designed to enhance the participation of women through
preferential procurement commitments and obligations with the DoE.
• Full participation of South African women in the energy sector is no longer a
privilege but an economic right.
• Cennergi wishes to share the business opportunities with the Eastern Cape
Business Women in order to improve their participation in the Renewable
Energy sector.
PURPOSE

• IPPs are required to contribute a percentage of projected revenues accrued
over the 20 year project operational life towards ED/SED initiatives. NB: These
differ from project to project.
• Both our projects have an obligation to spend 0.6% of revenue on Enterprise
Development (EnD) and 1.5% of revenue on Socio-Economic Development
(SED) activities, ONLY in communities located within 50km radius of the
project site.
• Our SED and EnD funds are disbursed through two Community Trusts, namely
Amakhala Emoyeni Community Trust (AECT) and Tsitsikamma Wind Farm
Trust (TWFT).
