guide. Within, you will find a range of suggested accommodation options to suit your

budget requirements, as well as key information to help you find your way from the

airport to the CBD. There are a range of transport options to help you navigate and

explore the city during your stay, we have outlined these below.

Melbourne is a very accessible and walkable city, so whilst we have provided

accommodation suggestions, please note that any accommodation option in the

CBD is likely to take you less than 20 minutes to arrive at the venue (free) by tram.

Getting from the airport to CBD SkyBus Phone: 1300 SKYBUS (1300 759 287) Fax: + 61 3 9338 5075 Email: info@skybus.com.au The most effective way to travel from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) to the Melbourne CBD is by SkyBus, a high-frequency express shuttle service. There is plenty of room on board for luggage and the service offers free Wi-Fi. Shuttles operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, departing every 10–15 minutes during flight times and every 30 minutes between 1–5am. Tickets cost $18 one-way / $34 round trip and can be purchased from ticketing booths at the Airport or online here: https://skybus.umd.com.au/skybus/sales/. There are regular discounted ticket sales online, it is worth checking the website before buying tickets. The most frequent and straightforward SkyBus service will take you from the Airport to Southern Cross Station (CBD) in 20 minutes. SkyBus also offer a free Hotel Shuttle to all passengers which can take you to your centrally (CBD) located accommodation from Southern Cross. Other airport transfer services/stops are offered by SkyBus and can be found here: https://www.skybus.com.au/find-your-stop/ * SkyBus is also wheelchair accessible. Uber Uber drivers pick up travellers from two locations at Melbourne Airport (see map below). For Qantas, International and Virgin Australia passengers, the ride-share pick up zone is lane 1 of the forecourt. For Jetstar, TigerAir, Rex or AirNorth passengers, the pick-up zone is level 2 inside the T4 Ground Transport Hub. Passengers can be dropped off anywhere along Departure Drive and the T4 Transport Hub drop off zone on level 1. This is the same for all the public drop off zones. Other options Public transport SmartBus Route 901 Melbourne Airport to Frankston – connects to Craigieburn line at Broadmeadows Station. Board the 901 bus at Melbourne Airport, from Bay 17 at Melbourne Airport Bus Interchange (see map below) to Broadmeadows Station. The sign on the bus should say “Frankston”. At the Broadmeadows Station, switch to a city bound train. This journey is around 70 minutes. You'll need a Myki transport card to use the service. First time myki users arriving at the Airport can purchase a myki Visitor Pack from the SkyBus counter outside terminals 1 or 3.

Taxi A taxi to Melbourne City takes approximately 35 minutes and costs around $55–65, though times and fares can vary. Taxis can be caught on the ground floor outside T1, and between T2 and T3. Pick up If someone is picking you up from the airport and would like to meet you in the terminal, they can park at the At Terminal T1 T2 T3 Car Park. Alternatively, they can park in the wait zone on the corner of Mercer Drive and Melrose Drive for 20 minutes for free and drive up to the pick-up point outside T2 once ready to meet you.

Car hire There’s a selection of rental car companies available at Melbourne Airport. You'll find them located across the forecourt from T2. Public transport in Melbourne Free Tram Zone Deakin University’s Downtown campus is located within the Free Tram Zone of Melbourne City (see map below).

The principal boundaries of the Free Tram Zone are Spring Street, Flinders Street and La Trobe Street. Additionally, the tram routes along Victoria Street, William Street and Elizabeth Street that surround Victoria Market are also included as well as the Docklands area. All stops within the zone are clearly marked and tram drivers will make regular announcements when approaching the zone boundaries. Zone boundaries are signed and free tram zone maps are across the network. If your tram journey is only within the zone, travel is free, so you do not need to touch on with a myki. Myki If you plan on travelling outside the free tram zone, or by train or bus, you must obtain a myki card. Myki is Melbourne’s ticket to travel on the city’s trains, trams and buses – you cannot buy single fare tickets, the whole system is based upon smartcard technology.

International and interstate visitors coming to Victoria can buy a myki Explorer pack. which combines a ready to use myki card, visitor information and special offers all in one. A Full Fare myki Explorer costs $15 and includes $9 myki Money for travel. You can buy a myki Explorer from:

The loop includes the city's two largest (both above-ground) stations: Flinders Street and Southern Cross; and three underground stations: Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament. Melbourne's 15 radial suburban railway lines feed into the Loop at its northwestern and southeastern corners. The underground section of the Loop follows La Trobe and Spring Streets along the northern and eastern edges of the CBD's street grid. Flinders Street Station is the main station in Melbourne and connects to all 15 radial suburban railway lines. All regional trains depart from Southern Cross Station. You can always get to Flinders Street and Southern Cross stations from Melbourne Central, Parliament and Flagstaff. Bikes The City of Melbourne’s cycling network has over 135 km of on- and off-road routes. The city-wide bike share scheme allows you to hire bicycles from a number of docking bays located around the city. A day pass costs $3 (+ $10 refundable deposit) and week pass costs $8 (+ $10 refundable deposit). Purchase your day pass using your credit card at any bike station. The City of Melbourne TravelSmart map provides a comprehensive guide to on-road and off-road cycling routes and facilities in the City of Melbourne. Capital City Trail (PDF 354 KB) is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which circles the Melbourne city centre and some inner eastern and northern suburbs of Melbourne. It is 29 km in length, and mostly consists of sections of other trails, such as the Merri Creek Trail, Main Yarra Trail, Moonee Ponds Creek Trail and Inner Circle Rail Trail.
