TOGETHER WE CAN ENSURE A HEALTHY FUTURE.

What is the SFC?The SFC is an independent, nonprofit coalition of furniture industry visionaries. We help manufacturers, designers, retailers, and other

companies reduce their environmental footprint. We help consumers find the more environmentally-safe furnishings they prefer.

Given the overwhelming scientific consensus that our world is going through dangerous climate changes and suffering other impacts of pollution, the Sustainable Furnishings Council and its sister organization Sustainable Furnishings Education Fund recognize that taking action is urgent and imperative. SFC member companies are in action to minimize carbon emissions and other pollutants, and working to eliminate unrecyclable, unsustainable materials from their supply chains.

There are many issues that fall under the wide umbrella of “sustainability”—ecological, social, and economic. All of them must be considered if we hope to sustain a healthy future. The choices we make as consumers, specifiers, manufacturers, and activists are significant. Through SFC Membership, companies can advance corporate values such as prioritizing a concern about averting deforestation, avoiding harmful chemicals, and supporting the local economy.

Sustainability is complex. SFC is here to provide the guidance you need for personal as well as professional choices.

You are invited to get involved!

SFC MEMBER COMPANIES maintain a commitment to sustainability, no matter which aspect of the complex whole is their priority. Each company is transparent about their current status, continuously improving along the way. We work hand in hand with our members focusing on 6 aspects of sustainability:

• Reduce carbon emissions and other pollutants

• Maintain health and wellness

• Ensure social equity

• Reduce waste

• Manage water

• Incorporate circularity
