Go Global at HKIEd
As a HKIEd undergraduate, you can expand your
global perspective further by joining our eye-
opening exchange programme. This enables you
to explore new ways of life at partner universities
across the world, including the US, UK, Europe
and other parts of Asia. Meanwhile, students
from our partner network can gain first-hand
experience of fast-rising Asia by exchanging to
HKIEd. Either way, it’s a great chance to explore
the world AND build multinational friendships,
confidence and awareness.
Outbound undergraduates study overseas for
a semester. If you are successful in applying to
join the programme, HKIEd will provide help with
arrangements and other practicalities including
financial support, guidance and pre-departure
briefings.Visithttp://www.ied.edu.hk/io/eo-

Students from partner institutions can
check out our inbound exchanges, with stays
of one semester or a year, and guaranteed
accommodation on campus. For details, please
visit http://www.ied.edu.hk/io/ex-planning-your-
exchange.

HKIEd and Hong Kong both recognise the value
of a more diverse campus.
Our full-time undergraduate and research
postgraduate students can both apply for
financial support during their studies. Entrance
scholarships are available for high-achieving
bachelor degree applicants. Assistance for
research postgraduates is provided through
studentships and part-time assistantships.

Accommodation
To help our international students learn more about the local
community, student accommodation will be provided for all
first-year non-local full-time students. Non-local undergraduates,

accommodation in student halls while self-funded postgraduates
may apply for student rental housing.

Support at HKIEdAt HKIEd, we strive to make your time with
us a positive, rewarding experience. While
studying abroad is fascinating, we understand
that living outside your home country may also
present certain challenges as you adapt to a
different campus and community environment.
We therefore have numerous support services
in place to help you settle in and gain the most
from HKIEd and Hong Kong.
IO Services
The International Office serves as a bridge
between overseas students and HKIEd, and is
likely to be one of the first ways you connect with
the Institute. We are responsible for international
recruitment, organising the student exchange
programme and other international activities,
assisting with study and visa applications, and
arranging activities to bring together non-local
and local students on campus. We may see you
in your home country when we travel to meet
potential students or help you when you first
arrive at HKIEd through our airport pick-up service
and orientation programme.
Faculty
HKIEd faculty offer support in your studies
throughout your studies by providing lectures,
seminars, and tutorials. Active participation and
interactivity is encouraged in class. Your tutors
will also provide direction and feedback on
your progress and can suggest relevant student
support services if necessary.
Student Affairs Office
SAO provides a wide range of services to make
adjusting to life at HKIEd easy and straightforward
non-local students. Activities include personal
guidance, group events and festival gatherings
to bring better understanding of Hong Kong and
provide further opportunities for you to make
new friends.
Health and Well-being
HKIEd has its own Medical Centre, which our
international students are welcome to use.
Primary medical and dental services are provided.
Counselling is also available through the Student
Affairs Office.
Buddy Programme
You can make friends early through the
International Office’s buddy programme. This
links you up with local students even before you
reach our campus, giving you a head start on life
in Hong Kong and at HKIEd.
Students’ Union
The Union is open to all full-time students at
HKIEd. It arranges activities and looks after
students’ interests by participating in the policy-
making and administration of the Institute. Many
different student interest and sports societies are
also affiliated to the Union.
