GUIDELINE ON MANDATORY SAFETY STANDARDS FOR REPLACEMENT PART OF BRAKE LINING 201311-09-14 | Bangkok,
The guideline states that replacement part of brake lining that are sold or supplied in Malaysia must conform to the prescribed
safety standards and comply with the marking requirements.
The safety standards prescribed under this regulation are:
Malaysian Standard MS 1164:2005 - Road Vehicles - Replacement Brake Lining Assemblies and Drum Brake Linings
for Power-Driven Vehicles - Specification (First Revision) or;
United Nation Economic Commission for Eruope UNECE Regulation 90 - Uniform provisions concerning the approval
of replacement brake lining assemblies, drum brake linings and discs and drums for power-driven vehicles and their
trailers.
Any supplier or offered for supply responsible to ensure replacement part of brake lining supplied or offered for supply shall
bear the mark specified in Trade Description (Marking of Replacement Part of Brake Lining) Order 2013.
Starting 1 November 2014, only replacement part of brake lining that bear the mark specified in Trade Description (Marking of
Replacement Part of Brake Lining) Order 2013 are allowed to be sold in Malaysia. Any replacement parts of brake lining do not
bear the mark shall be removed from the market starting 1 November 2014.
