Term 4 Monday 10 October – Tuesday 20 December (Students finish Friday 17 December)

Welcome back to Term 4. We hope all families and

children had a lovely holiday break. This term is

going to be an extremely busy one, as can be seen

by the number of scheduled events on the school

planner, which is included in this newsletter.

Staffing Update We heard wonderful news on the first day back this

term that Miss Bell welcomed a beautiful baby boy

into the world. We are sure that Miss Bell is

enjoying every minute with baby Alexander and we

look forward to seeing them both visit the school in

the near future.

I would also like to formally welcome our Relieving

Aboriginal Education Officer Karen Armstrong to

Guise PS, who will relieve in Miss Bell’s position

while she is on leave. I am sure that you will join me

in making Mrs Armstrong feel at home at our

fantastic school.

Principal’s Report

We also welcome back one of our permanent staff

members Miss Grovenor to Guise PS after a period of

leave. Miss Grovenor will resume as our Teacher Librarian

and take classes for lessons and borrowing in our school

library on Monday and Tuesday each week.

NRL Backyard League Clinic From week three we are lucky enough to have the NRL

Backyard League joining us. The NRL Backyard League will

be coming to our school and will be running football skills

clinics for K-6 students on Wednesday in Week 3, 4 and 5

this term. The program aims to equip students with the

tools to play a non-contact version of football in any

setting while delivering important education, health and

welfare messages. Students will be put through their paces

as they learn new football skills in a fun and interactive

fashion.

Year 7 Selective High School for 2018 If you have a child currently in Year 5 and are

thinking about applying for government Selective

High School for Year 7 entry for 2018, the

application website is now open.

As was outlined on the “Intention to Apply” note

that was sent home to all Year 5 students, you must

apply online at

www.schools.nsw.edu.au/shsplacement

Applications can be made online between 11

October 2016 and 14 November 2016.

Applications will not be accepted after 14

November 2016.

All applicants are required to sit the Selective

High School Placement Test to be held on Thursday

9 March 2017.

The P&C held a very successful fundraising Bunnings

BBQ event at the Liverpool Crossroads store on the

first Saturday of the school holidays to raise funds for

the school. I would like to thank the hard working P&C

and other family and staff volunteers who helped out on

this day. Your ongoing support of the school is very

much appreciated.
