Leadership / suggests upright

Both characters are related to righteousness, responsibility, and/or being honorable. The significance of this comparison is that in Ling Shu chapter eight, Chi Po states that “…Heaven in me is virtue, Earth in me is Qi…” This statement was part of an answer explaining the origins of Shen.

“…Where there is shaking from cold as if one is sprinkled with water, frequent yawning and groaning and the facial complexion becomes dark; A disease state causes that one hates the people and fire, and to be timid and fearful when hearing tones resonant to Wood (frightened of the sounds of trees in the wind); While the Head desires action/motion; one stays alone behind locked doors and closed shutters; In extremes it desires to ascend heights and sing and cast off ones clothes while walking (running) outside. Noise in the abdomen caused by vibration at the entrance of the Stomach and swelling; this is called shin Jue…”

Ling Shu 10 - Shin-Jue Disorder

Since CV12 is related to the Stomach, The shin is a region related to the Stomach Qi line The description (Ling Shu 10) clearly illustrates an psychiatric problem.

it is reasonable to make the connection between a painful CV12 area and the Heart Shu region.

Also, the description of a vibration at the stomach area is reminiscent of the “butterfly” feeling in the stomach when nervous or anxious.

The path of the Stomach channel goes through the stomach into the lungs and, from there under the left nipple, to become the pulse.

According to Ling Shu 10, the Stomach channel connects to the Spleen channel and it goes from CV12 to the middle of the Heart.

Patients presenting with depression and/or anxiety associated with weight gain should be examined for any Liver pathology. The treatment of the “fatty Liver pattern” is especially useful. This can reduce pressure pain at the liver as well as at CV12. Since the Liver and Gallbladder are associated with depression and anger according to traditional Chinese medical theory, the treatments for these Organs should also help in reducing pressure pain at the sternum area.

Pressure pain at CV12 can also be reduced with Bl49 (Yi She). This point is related to the Yi pathology. If Bl49 reduces the pressure pain at CV12 the anxiety and/or depression problem may be related with the Spleen, thus Sp3 and Sp9 or Sp5 and Sp9 together with the treatment of the Stomach Qi line can further reduce pressure pain at CV12.

Pressure pain at CV17 can be reduced with GB13, which has a very unique name ben shen. This point bares the same name as Ling Shu 8 (“Origins of Shen”). This point, located above St8 should be needled very shallowly at the exact angle and location that reduced the pressure pain at CV17. GB13 can be needled unilaterally or bi laterally, depending on the amount of pressure pain reduction at CV17.

Four last sentences in Su Wen 33

Chi-Po explains why menstruation does not come. He says: “…When the menstruation does not come, (it means) the Bao mai is closed. Bao mai belongs to the Heart and is connected from its center to the uterus. If Qi goes up [and disturbing] to the Lung, Heart Qi cannot descend. Therefore menstruation will not come….”

Pelvic pain is a common complaint. It may originate in pelvic or extra pelvic organs,or it may be secondary to a systemic disease. Sometimes no cause is found.

• Amenorrhea / Dysmenorrhea

• Menorrhagia

• Uterine fibroids

• Endometriosis

Amenorrhea / Dysmenorrhea

Primary (functional) Dysmenorrhea is a cyclic pain associated with ovulatoryCycles without demonstrable lesions affecting reproductive structures.

The pain is thought to result from uterine contractions and ischemia.

Contributing factors may include the passage of tissue through the cervix,a narrow cervical os, malposition of the uterus, lack of exercise,

and anxiety about menses.

Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation - either because it never began or later ceased.

Amenorrhea - except that occurring before puberty, during pregnancy or early lactationand after menopause - is pathologic.

Amenorrhea indicates failure of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal-uterine interaction To produce cyclic changes in the endometrium, resulting in menses
