AMY DISMUKES AT POTLUCK MAY 16

M ICHAEL MARKS AND

his merry band of

cosmetology students

from TCAD will return to the cen-

ter on Tues., May 22.

They will do manicures

and pedicures for us as before.

Plus, they’re adding haircuts this

time!

The cost is $5 for each one

you choose, with a $5 annual fee if

you haven’t already paid it.

They’ll start about 9:30.

There could be some waiting.

This is a friendly reminder

that the center closes at 3 p.m.

For those of you

who wait on a ride,

please tell your driver to be here

promptly at 3 pm.

FiftyForward College Grove

is responsible for all members

that have participated

in center activities for the day,

and it is our job to make sure

you get picked up safely.

Although the library is open

after we close,

and Parks and Recreation

generally opens their doors

at 4 pm,

it is not their responsibility

to make sure you get picked up.

Thank you for helping with this.

Their webpage describes

The Shops at Main and McGrew as

“an antique and unique mall-style

shop with a variety of different ven-

dors for every type of taste.”

You can’t beat that. No

wait, maybe you can.

The Shops are located in a

restored historic building, originally

constructed in 1914, as Shel-

byville’s post office. Then, in

1966, the building became a library.

Antiques and uniques in a

National Historic Landmark. Talk

about a win-win!

The Shops are right off

Shelbyville’s town square.

We don’t know what all is

there, but we’re eager to find

out.

We’ll stop some

place good for lunch.

The van will leave the

Center at 9:30 on Wed.,

May 9. Van fee is: $6.

Our April program about

Precision Medicine gave us back-

ground for the National Institute of

Health’s massive “All of Us” Re-

search Program, which seeks one

million gene-study participants.

FiftyForward and Nashville

have been chosen as a national

launch site for the this program.

The launch party will be

held at FiftyForward Madison Sta-

tion on Sun., May 6, from 2 to 5

p.m.

Channel 5’s Lelan Statom

will emcee the festivities, which

include a community education fair,

food trucks, vendors, live music

performances and door prizes.

NOTE: College Grove will

not be taking the van to the launch

party, but “all of us” are welcome

to go, if we can get there on our

own. FiftyForward Madison Sta-

tion is at 301 Madison Street.
