The challenge: Consumers may be nervous about installing new and unfamiliar products like a new OLED/ LCD/ Plasma screen in their home or office by themselves. As a result many consumers hire professional installers to do the installation. As the installer profits from both installation and labor, they tend to use the most basic mounts, which don't allow maximum viewing pleasure.

Our solution: Barkan has designed cost effective OLED/ LCD/ Plasma mounts which are easy for the consumer to install, and come with additional features and benefits to enhance the viewing experience.

We had been looking for a tools-free solution that would allow for the flexible movement and ultimate viewing position. We tested numerous types of friction pads from plastic to steel. The "Butterfly" design story, patented for mounting systems

We looked for additional ways to improve the viewing pleasure of end users with Barkan products. We consulted with numerous designers and all suggested subtle changes without jeopardizing the integrity of the product. We weren't satisfied with the proposals, and continued to search for an original idea. One day, our in-house designer looked at our connecting mechanism and suggested "why not design a mechanism similar to an animal all are familiar with".We tried a number of animals and came up with a butterfly shape.Animals in the wild, through generations of evolution, have developed a body structure enabling them optimal and flawless movement in the air, sea and land. By using their effectiveness and ability to work in harmony, we have implemented these various characteristics in the development of mounts and connecting mechanisms to the TV. We have succeeded to harness the most efficient movement of animals, to our new product design, which transformed the viewing possibilty to a more diversed application as compared to what is presently available in the market.

It was clear to us that the flat screen market going towards screens like OLED, Ultra Slim LCD and Plasma, which are very thin and light, as well as in modern design, both front side and back, to look similar to pictures. We thought, if screens are looking more like pictures, then why not visit some museums in order to get a better overview.We visited a number of museums throughout the world, like the Louvre in Paris and El Prado in Madrid, and developed a new line of products to hang screens like expensive pictures at museums. The product concept integrates our unique Butterfly Connection, which was developed by observing animals in their natural environment, as well as an aesthetic appearance on the back of the screen.

This breakthrough has allowed us to develop new and advanced lines of products for LCD and Plasma.We are developing our products by using a state-of-the-art 3 dimensional software. We have elaborate measuring systems, in-house modern graphic studio, and a refined factory completely automated and computerized, where we manufacturer all phases of production under one roof under controlled conditions.In 2008, we plan to increase our plant and production, as well as office space, to over 10,000 sq meters, giving us more than double our present capacity.2004-2006After years of experience in branding, as well as professional advise us with organized strategic steps lasting 9 months, we have established a brand identity symbolizing prosperity, life style on our recognized white and red background. In September 2005 at the IFA exhibition in Berlin, we invested in various display boards, new packaging, new catalog with all our products with the new red and white brand identity.At this time, we already had about 10 new mounting solutions for LCD and Plasma screens. Also, a new concept of product identification using just 2 digits for each product which represent the screen size as well as the mount movement.In January 2006, we participated as in past years, at the CES exhibition in Las Vegas, and there we won the CES award for innovation and design for 2 of our mounting products.1997-2003At the beginning of 1997, we produced colour consumer brochures and packaging.We continued to develop new mounting products till end 1998, under the line of Super and Popular.At the end of 1999, we began to build the new factory, with over 5,000 sq meter in space.We increased our development team and established our own graphic studio, as well as implicated specific rules of conduct which we call our 10 commandments.At the end of 2003, we broke new records in mount manufacturing- 130,000 mounts per month.1993-1996At the beginning of 1993, we moved to a new facility in Barkan Industrial Zone.We developed our unique management systems called "brain organization". Accordingly, till today we work using the same management system. 1988-1992We established in January 1988. The first mounts produced were made of full steel and very expensive. We searched for ways to reduce costs and developed a mount made from hollow material.In March 1990, we participated for the first time at the CEBIT exhibition in Germany. In 1992, we received compliance to ISO 9003.
