JOIN US TO TRANSFORM HEALTHCAREHacking Health aims to bring innovation to healthcare using a collaborative bottom-up approach with healthcare professionals at the centre of the innovation process.

In conjunction with True North, this year’s dual-city hackathon leverages the robust technology sector in both Ottawa and Waterloo. Taking place simultaneously in both cities, Hacking Health Hackathon is a fun, hands-on, 3-day event that breaks down barriers to healthcare innovation. We pair healthcare professionals with technologists, designers, and entrepreneurs to solve distinct front-line problems with creative solutions.

At the hackathon, teams pitch ideas, get advice from experts and build digital health applications that can be integrated and implemented into our healthcare system. This year’s themes include Social Isolation, Aging and Technology. Working together, we can build inventive solutions to resolve some of our healthcare challenges.

Our shared values and vision for a patient-centric healthcare system, allows us to be great innovation partners to lead healthcare forward.

WHO WE ARE WHAT WE DOHacking Health aims to increase innovation in healthcare using a collaborative, bottom-up approach with healthcare professionals at the centre of the innovation process.Real problems. Real solutions.

We are a network committed to healthcare innovation. We bring together leaders from across multiple sectors - healthcare, technology, design, business - to work together to improve healthcare and fostercollaborative innovation in the health sector. We focus on creating synergies with existing organizations and initiatives to multiply our overall impact.

We are a neutral platform for innovation. As part of an international non-profit network with a bottom-up approach, we are uniquely positioned to bring new ideas to any organization and build relationships as a neutral voice of healthcare innovators.

We are lean. We favour rapid, iterative development of solutions in a manner that creates the shortest feedback loopbetween the people who might use the solution and the people who are developing it. Less talk. More action.

We engage a diverse range of stakeholders from inside and outside of the health sector to look at healthcare challenges from a variety of perspectives, uncovering fresh insights.

HackathonOur weekend-long hackathon pulls it alltogether, uniting our diverse community made up of healthcare professionals, developers, designers, patients, and others passionate about healthcare innovation. The more diverse participating teams are, the higher the likelihood of innovative solutions.

“Various factors, such as disability and major life events such as the loss of a spouse, can put older adults at risk of experiencing social isolation and loneliness. We look forward to great solutions coming out of the Hackathon to address this pressing health issue. ~ Bruce Lauckner, CEO Waterloo Wellington LHIN
