Thank you again for making it possible for us to minister in this beautiful country. It s hard to put words to the

feeling of doing what you know God has called you to do, but there

s such satisfaction in living in His plan, and we we couldn t do it without the prayers, support, and encouragement of you all. We really appreciate the hoGod in Paraguay and love that you re a part of that, too!

We had the privilege of attending two different weddings in Paraguay this month. Here, most couples have two different partsthat make up a wedding the legal ceremony and the church ceremony. The legal one takes place with the judge at themunicipal building ( justice-of-the-peace ). This is where all the papers are signed, witnesses are present, and the new couplegets registered in the official town records.

The second ceremony is the church one. This stems from the Catholic tradition, as the belief is that nothing is really real until the priest approves it. This is the same mentality behind baptisms, school graduations, anddeath rites. Because Catholocism is so prevalent in Latin American nations, this practice, overtime, has been viewed more as a cultural thing than a Catholic thing, and even the evangelicalChristians have church weddings in addition to thelegal wedding.

The first wedding we attended was the local pastor sson and a young lady from the same church. BothDavid and Susan are good friends of ours. and we

were quite honored when they asked us to be the godparents of the wedding. Wehad no idea what that meant, but it turns out we simply walked in before the brideand stood up front during the ceremony. There were no bridesmaids or ushers, so Ithought of myself as a sort of bridesmaid. Hollie was the official photographer anddid a great job preserving the moment for the young couple. The bride of the second wedding was a young lady we lived near

when we lived in Arazaty. Gloria is a bright young lady studying to be a nurse, and hopes to be able to work in the communitythere once she s finished.

In a country where many people choose to live together without ever marrying, and there are children born out of wedlock at alarming rates, we were thrilled to be part of two weddings in the same month. Join us in praying for Godly families to rise upand make a difference in the moral state of Paraguay.

God bless you! Dios le bendiga! (Spanish) andejra tanderovasa! (Guarani)
