All journeys cause difficulties and require efforts. ImamGhazzali (r.a.) writes that whatever a person spendsduring Hajj he should spend it happily. One must bear allthe physical and material losses for it, as it is the sign ofacceptance of Hajj. Difficulties in Hajj are same as that inJihad. Hence there is a great reward for all the effort andthey won't go waste.According to a tradition, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) saidto Hazrat Aisha (r.a.), “O Aisha, the reward of the Hajj isaccording to the effort undertaken by you.”The reward of the Hajj is given according to the painstaken to complete this obligation. Therefore people bearall difficulties of Hajj quietly and do not even speak aword of distress. Neither do they relate their problems toanyone. Also people do not relate their problems toothers lest others get discouraged. When I was studying for Hajj before going for it, allscholars stressed only one point as to how to completethe Hajj. No one spoke as to how to face the difficultiesduring the 40 days' stay there. I felt during my 40 days'stay over there that many difficulties are caused due toour unawareness. It causes a great loss of our time, whichwould have been spent in worship. Hence I took up the job of writing this book. I want to give knowledge, guidance and suggestions to prospective pilgrims aboutthe problems and their solutions during Hajj.If pilgrims follow these advices, I hope they would beable to devote much of their time and energy in Allah'sworship. If you benefit from this book remember this sinnerQamruddin Khan also in your prayers. This book is writtenonly to avoid/solve problems faced during Hajj. Pleaseattend the Majaalis (Lectures/gatherings) organized bydifferent organizations for complete knowledge Hajjrites. By which one will be able to fulfill the right of thegreat worship like Hajj in a better way. May AlmightyAllah grant to you the favor of performing a good andacceptable Hajj.

This book is written by a respected friend, al-HaajQamruddin, following the saying: “The best of men is onewho benefits others.” He has penned down hisexperiences during Hajj to educate respected pilgrimssolely for the pleasure of Allah. We hope that pilgrims willbenefit from this and spend most of their time in worship. This book not only contains experiences of the writer butit echoes his concern for his community. It also makes usaware of his literary expertise. This book reflects theeffort in writing even though the writer is new to thisfield. Beauty of words and a nice order of sentencestouches ones heart. Intimation Letter and Cover Number ofHajj Committee

An 'intimation letter' would be delivered to your homeafter you have filled you Hajj form. You will get your'cover number' along with lots of other information. Thisnumber is very important for you. It is used for youridentification before and during the journey. None of yourformalities will be complete without this number. Hence, one should keep this letter safely and always rememberthe cover number. Importance of Passport

If you do not have a passport, there is no need toworry and even if you have one, it is not required. HajjCommittee issues a special passport for Hajj, which canbe used only once and only for Hajj. It has a white cover. You should not forget to carry it around with you duringthe journey. Your Muallim will take it from you onreaching Mecca and give it back to you at airport whilereturning.

It you are uncomfortable, remove the chainbut you should always keep the bracelet along with you.You are identified with this only whenever required.By chance, if you fall unconscious due to someunfortunate accident or if you happen to lose all yourbelongings, you would be recognized only by the covernumber on your bracelet and you would reach your place.I have heard of people who got lost without identity andwere found resembling beggars after Hajj: Hence youshould always keep this bracelet with you. Do not removeit even while bathing or going to toilet.

Foreign Exchange

The sixth thing that you get from airport before yourdeparture for Hajj is Saudi Arabia currency (Rial) or draft. It is your necessity as well as enemy of your life. Oneof my neighbors went for Hajj in the year 2004 and diedduring the journey. On enquiring with his friends, it wasknown that officials had taken all of his money at theairport on pretext of checking. He thought that it would
