FINAL CHANCETeam from Hall Green through to finals at Goals

On Friday, students from Hall Green being part of the Islamic Society at their college, Cadbury, in Kings Nor-ton, raised £456.53 in a cake sale for the flood victims of Pakistan.

They took their trade to their college with views to raise as much as they can, and were successful.

Numan Qadir, head of the society, said “We worked as a team. There were no complaints. We did well”.

A football team of youths aged from 12 and 21 from Hall Green have advanced to the Finals at the first Autumn tournament at Goals Soccer Centre, Star City.

The tournaments, which are to

take place every season, has 16 teams from accross Birmingham competing for the Goals trophy - and local pride for their area.

It was set up as a scheme to help keep kids off the street, while at the same time giving them opportunities to express themselves in a fun and worthy way.

The team, consisting of seven players representing Hall Green, play matches every Friday against other teams from around Birmingham.

HALL GREEN SCHOOL ACHIEVE ‘BEST EVER’ GCSE RESULTS

Hall Green school are delighted to announce its ‘best erver’ examination results for the GCSE year 2010. 83% of students achieved an A* to C - that is 8% up from last years results and 7% up from its previous best.

Since 2007, the school have achieved inconsistent GCSE results. In 2007, the overall percentage was 68%. In 2008 this rose to 72%, but in 2009 it dropped to 70%.

The outstanding rise in positive results have largely been down to their new Positive Behaviour System, labelled ‘Ex-pectations for Learning’, which seems to have taken a great

effect on their GCSE results. The school are also hopeful that the boost of results will increase their popularity in the local area, rather than current year 6 students travelling to areas out of their local.

Connor Lewis, a year 11 student, told us how proud he was,

“It’s great. The school has really been helpful over these five years

“I got 2 A’s and 7 B’s!”
