“The Language Menu” is an educational project from Learnwell Oy which provides teachers and students across the world FREE resources and ready-made exercises to be used in classes, along with the much needed tools to create original and personalized materials. Teachers seeking to use web-based activities in their classroom and students who seek material for independent study will find a common space on The Language Menu website.

The worksheets in this “Halloween material package” have been created using the tools, vocabu-lary and clip-art available on our website.

At the moment the website offers 35 languages, which in the next few months will be increased to over 50. This will enable you to make bilingual material in more than 2380 language combinations. Our collection of online tools, currently numbering over 17 , is also expanding over the following months.

The Language Menu is a free site to all to make language education easier, more accessible and more fun. Let us know if you have any requests and feel free to share your opinions with us. We take your opinions seriously and we are always open to new ideas!

Here are some of the tools used to create this Halloween material package. You can click on the name of the tool to go to our webpage and create your own material:

BINGO BOARD GENERATOR TOOL

This game is played like bingo, but pictures are used instead of numbers. Print out a page for each of your students. Each student will also need a dozen of small pins to mark their board. Someone (the teacher or a student) picks cards from the deck , and if a student has that picture on his board, he covers it . The winner is the first person to cover all pictures in a row (horizontal, vertical or diagonal). The winner calls out “Bingo!” Print out all the cards and as many sheets as there are people playing.

CROSSWORD MAKER

Print out as many copies of the crossword as you need, along with an automatic answer sheet (that the teacher can use). Students love crosswords and you can use this worksheet for lesson-enhancing activities.

FLASHCARD AND DOMINO GENERATOR

You can create a general set of flashcards for general use in the class, or you can create a set for

every student. You can put the flashcards in a hat and ask the students to pick one. You may ask them to make a sentence with the word, to act out the word or to write down a definition. You can play “I have/who has” using pictures and words, or words and definitions.

Print out as many copies of the framework as you need, along with an automatic answer sheet (that the teacher can use). You can use this worksheet for lesson-enhancing activities.

MATCHING EXERCISE GENERATOR

Print out as many copies of the label the pictures worksheet as you need. You can use this worksheet for vocabulary practice, or to introduce a grammar activity (give the plural of the words, etc.)MISSING WORDS GENERATOR

This tool allows you to create text with blanks inserted for missing words. Your students can then fill in the missing words by referring to a list of word clues. Print out as many copies of the worksheet as you need. This exercise can be done individually or as a whole class activity to review a text already studied or to introduce a new lesson.

LABEL THE PICTURES GENERATOR

Print out as many copies of the label the pictures worksheet as you need. You can use this worksheet for vocabulary practice, or to introduce a grammar activity (give the plural of the words, etc.

"Waking in the morning--" "Silver between the trees--" "Upstairs--" 'In the garden--" "When summer came--" 'In winter snow-time--" "The doors go shutting far in the distance, gently knocking like the pulse of a heart. Nearer they come, cease at the doorway. The wind falls, the rain slides silver down the glass. Our eyes darken, we hear no steps beside us; we see no lady spread her ghostly cloak. His hands shield the lantern. "Look," he breathes. "Sound asleep. Love upon their lips." Stooping, holding their silver lamp above us, long they look and deeply. Long they pause. The wind drives straightly; the flame stoops slightly. Wild beams of moonlight cross both floor and wall, and, meeting, stain the faces bent; the faces pondering; the faces that search the sleepers and seek their hidden joy.
