Dear Members and Friends of HSK, I have been enjoying thoughts about our meeting and BBQ over and over again. Wow! What a great time that was last Sunday. The food was so good and plenty of fellowship filled with joy. We must do this again. And to all the outside cooks: “Thank You!” The yakisoba was so good. It tastes better when it is made outside. And thank you again for listening to what I think the Lord was speaking to us last Sunday. I am still thinking about those notes. I do not think I will soon share what I skipped over but…I want us to continue to discover what it means to serve the Lord. Serving the Lord can often appear what church leaders should be doing and since they receive a salary, it is also easy to think the church member can just sit and watch. No! We are mistaken if we ever think that way. We must all be serving the Lord! Amen? Last week while talking to a Brazilian pastor, he told me about a recent conversation with another Brazilian man who had very little space left on his body for another tattoo. (I have not met that man.) But the pastor asked me if this man would be accepted at HSK. I immediately said, “Yes!”. And although I think you may know what I am going to say, please read the following carefully: One activity Jesus wanted all Christians to participate in was this: Healing the sick. And sick people can look really bad. They can be crippled by

their sickness, lost all their hair, or have many tattoos! And when they become healed they may still limp, have no hair, and have many tattoos. We must be seeking to heal the sick and then rejoice when God touches them. Who will do this with me? Today we will sing a song in only two languages; English and Portuguese. (No Japanese yet!) And I need to warn you of what you will probably be tempted to think: “Now this is not a church for Japanese Christians!” Be careful with those thoughts! We do gather to share the love and joy of God with others. We do gather to learn more about our Heavenly Father. But…we primarily gather to worship our God. Primarily we gather to express the gratitude we have for His blessings on our lives. If you do not know the words to any song, fill in the melody with ‘Hallelujah!’, ‘Father, You are wonder-ful!’, ‘Help me more!’. “Get me out of my problems!’ You may discover God is in the next seat listening to your song! I am still teaching about expressions which I believe we must be speaking when we are together. Yes, I think someone still believes that silence makes the proper behavior for church but I totally disagree. God never created anything with His mouth closed. Let’s keep our church filled with praises to God. Your pastor….Ben

Please continue to tell…your family and friends about viewing ‘live’ and recorded meetings at HSK on the Internet. To see meetings, go to and click ‘Livestream’. Or go to

The book of Acts refers to a number of key prayer times in the life of the church. They are all instructive as to how the Christian church lived out its mission on earth. Think back with me about the account of the cripple at the Beautiful Gate. He was certainly not the only beggar there that day; there well may have been others calling for Peter’s and John’s attention. But the Bible says that “Peter looked straight at him.” I can tell you from a lifetime of living in New York City that most people try not to make eye contact with the beggars and panhandlers. The defense mechanism is to pretend you don’t even see those unfortunate people. Peter responded exactly the opposite to this. By the Spirit he perceived that God was about to do something for this individual….

There was no indication that cripple believed in Jesus the Messiah. He didn’t ask Peter for prayer. He simply uttered the Jewish equivalent of “Buddy, can you spare some change?” Yet Peter knew in his heart what to do—or rather he somehow knew what God was about to do. He initiated contact. “Look at us!” he declared. Not very many of us expect God to give us these kinds of supernatural indications and leadings. The Holy Spirit may want to touch someone with divine power and change his or her life forever—but He can’t seem to find a channel to use, someone whose spiritual antenna is pointed outward in a heavenly direction and ready to obey God’s prompting. The story in Acts 3 is not hocus-pocus mysticism but a factual account of what the Holy Spirit did through two yielded servants.

Let’s remember to pray for those whom we know are in need of God’s healing this week. He is still able to heal today!

There is much protesting going on in Hong Kong now. Please pray for the believers in that area of the world.

Taiwan also is being pressured to take the rule of mainland China. May the Lord intervene in this situation.

Thank you for continuing to pray for Japan and the emperor and his family to come to know Jesus.

Please pray again this week for our sister Daisy-san and her family. May the Lord heal Yuko-san and Akio-kun soon.

Cancer is a terrible disease. Let’s pray for those we know who are suffering from that disease. The singer, Kosaka-san’s granddaughter is till in need of a miracle. Who will pray for this teenager again?

Will you please pray for good health for pastor Ben and Ruth-san? They need the Lord’s strength daily.

God has promised to do, “more than we can ask or think”. Let’s keep believing for Him to do great things.

Iran is wanting to build nuclear missiles and attack Israel. We must pray for this situation.

Sabrina-san is a new member of HSK. May the Lord continue to bless her and work in her life and family. Let’s pray for her and her son, Lucas-san this week.

May we pray for more politicians to be saved and be used by the Lord here in Japan. …………………………………………………………… Note: If you do not want your prayer request in the church bulletin, please mark that clearly on your prayer request card.
