Gospel Lesson
Matthew 1:18-24 (NRSV) 18 Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19Her husband Joseph, being a righteous man and unwilling to expose her to public disgrace, planned to dis-miss her quietly. 20But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Ho-ly Spirit. 21She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.’ 22All this took place to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 ‘Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel’, which means, ‘God is with us.’ 24When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took her as his wife.

Updated Restore II Report - 12/01/16 At last Sunday’s worship services Dr. Stowe reported we would return to the sanctuary on December 18. What a joy it will be for our church family to return home for the Christmas Season. To that end, let me bring you up-to-date as we enter the home turn stretch.
The new red carpet is in place. Talk about a huge room with no pews, it was a sight to see. But that did not last long. The pew refurbishing team arrived last Monday, November 28 and all the pews have returned to their respective places. When finished, new foam padding covered with new fabric matching the carpet will be on the seats and backs providing comfortable seating for us.
In addition to the sprinkler system, new fire alarm monitors along with cameras in the sanctuary and throughout all the new spaces are being installed. Cameras will also monitor our new entrances and parking areas providing a measure of safety for us. Every way one turns there are technicians tripping over each other.
In the new areas electrical and plumbing work is almost complete. Wall insulation is in place covered by huge sheetrock panels. This work has revealed some high walls and ceilings. Very soon a new door behind the Fellowship Hall corridor will provide entrance to the new bathrooms.
We are headed for exciting times as we move forward. God has blessed our church. Please remember to support Restore II financially and with your prayers.
